The fact that MK7 isn't even 10 mil on a much better selling system tells me that it's definitely not gonna outsell MK64.

handheld mario karts dont have the same appeal as the console versions

Wait a minute, your telling me that selling over 20 million copies in it's last handheld interation doesn't count for same appeal ?!

Right ...

3DS has only 28 percent of the install base that the DS had though.   It's lineup is great but it just doesnt have the new IP's like brain age and Nintendogs's to pull in the casuals.

Do you seriously believe in that casual vs hardcore crap ?

those games are much cheaper on phones this is why the 3ds is selling less

The 3DS is selling less because it has lower quality titles compared to the DS. I don't buy phones for it's mostly crappy games, I buy them for everyday utilities that I need for university and other parts of life. No such thing as hardcore and casual. In fact I find that being labelled a hardcore gamer is more insulting than being labelled a casual gamer because that means that I value alot of worthless games compared to just quality games.

brain training sold ten millions of DS's, brain training can be done on each smart phone now so no need to buy a 3ds for it

Just who exaclty owns brain age ? I thought so ...

it sold 35 million total copies on the DS.   Without the casual crowd Playstation and Nintendo would have gone bankrupt years ago.

and they were partly the cause of the bigger sales of mario kart on both the wii and the ds

What does this even mean ? -_- If your going to argue atleast express your ideas properly.

Then I'd rather the industry full of casuals rather than hardcore because they are the ones saving the industry. I'd classify myself as casual too.

I think he means the casual market.  Wii Sports / Nintendogs / Brain Age pulled alot of people in and millions of those people proceeded to get Mario kart on Wii and DS.    Mario Kart in itself is a huge seller, but Nintendo has proven with the right size install base, they can sell a ridiculous number of copies.  MKDS sold 22 million at $30 a pop (Thats 660 million in sales off of one game, that probebly didnt cost Nintendo jack squat to make).

Couldn't you say the same thing about other popular titles like halo, COD, and GTA ? -_-

Very true.  Sony's biggest mistake with the Vita and Nintendos with the Wii U was thinking that the hardcore crowd could carry the console.
