"Some people say the latest tomb raider game is just an uncharted clone."

The problem people have with this is that they wanted a Tomb Raider game, not an Uncharted one. Effectively this new gameplay type killed any chance of future Tomb Raider-like games.

And then people who like the new direction then say 'get over it, games change"

Funny people called Uncharted a Tomb raider clone.. And before that Tomb Raider a Indiana jones clone;..

There are some games that seem completely original, but the ideas have to come from somewhere. and nowadays most of the ideas are inspired by other games. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Big Bang Theory copied Friends

While I'd agree that it has degenerated into a Friends clone now. The first 4-5 seasons of the show were nothing like Friends.

There is nothing new under the sun. If you have the eyes for it though, everything is new under the sun.

To OP no, nothing for the most part released now will be "new". The inspiration will have been found somewhere, even if it's from the 80s. Personally I don't really get the "originality" crap people go on about. I love new experiences more than the average gamer, but that won't stop me enjoying the hell out of a damn well put together piece of software, even if it involves looking down the barrel of a gun against a Nazi.
