Forums - Sony - Do you think Sony will ignore Vita at E3 2014?

What will happen at E3 2014?

Sony will focus on PS4 co... 131 54.36%

Sony will give more Vita ... 110 45.64%

Total:241

I think Sony will feature the vita, they will most likely have a release date for the redesign and news/release date for the PSVita TV. One of the strategies of Playstation Now is to have the service push hardware so i doubt they will axe the system.

I'm pretty sure COD didnt do as well as Activision would have liked. Same goes for AC with Ubisoft.

The reasons why third party games havent done well on PSV is pretty much irrelevant at this point. The games havent sold well and the system hasnt sold well, therefore they wont support it as best they can. We will probably continue seeing late/crappy ports and inferior home console spin offs.

In order for Sony to get the PSV going again they are going to need to get software that sells well and also moves hardware. This will entice other devs to put more effort in and have a bigger presence on the console.

The vita cod is not made by Activision and is a bad games it does well for a console with a such low install base,Ubisoft said they are happy with Assasin Creed Liberations sales.

Psvita sale are so low because 3rd party has not support ,spin off would be enougth to save vita,i think Assasin Creed and cod are the only spin off games all the rest are late port.

Not too sure what your point is here :?

No vita game has sold really well. None. Not 1 game. This doesnt entice publishers to give full support for the console. Spin offs and ports wont save the Vita. They need software that is specific to the console and specific to the handheld gaming experience.

Also activision is still the publisher of the Vita Cod.

Many games on Vita sold well if you really look at the sales and compare them to to the equivalent on PSP( Ys Celceta, Persona for example) , in fact, Japan games sell pretty well on Vita, even new IPs like Gravity Rush ( sold more than any other new ip on PSP ) and Soul Sacrifice so it's wrong.

Obviously, little games will have little games sales, middle games will have middle games sales, big games will sell like big games ( uncharted sold 1M, good attach rate for a game given for free) and low budget games will have low budget sales ( COD, assassin's creed, both were low budget but they had great sales, almost 900k for ac vita ( ubisoft said they were happy with 600k) and for a smartphone game, COD sold very well ).

Japanese publishers understood that games sell well on Vita, this is why it's getting more and more support.

MH would obviously sell like hot cakes on it.

Sorry my comments were more geared towards the west and the PSV. I think the PSV will do well in Japan.

Hmmm seems like a lot of people in this thread are happy with the software sales of the PSV...

I ask you this..do you think that the big publishers like Activision, Ubisoft and EA will invest more or less in the PSV this year compared to last year? Given their ROI since the release of the PSV.

Edit: Also just to add my comment was "No vita game has sold really well" Not "No vita game has sold well". I'm sorry for not making this clear but i was thinking games that sold really well or have the potential to sell really well like 5m plus. No console can survive on 1 million sellers..

well in 2012 Sony's E3 Slogan was "PS3 fuck yeah!.. umm whats a Vita?"
in 2013 Sony's E3 slogan was "PS4! fucks yeah baby!! its sooo good we dont have any other gaming machine to support!"

so yeah, they will probably be like the past 2 years.

This.

I would be shocked if they pay any attention to the Vita. Here's how the Conference is going to be:

3 minute introduction video

5 minutes talking about sales figures (mostly PS4, but also PS3 and Digital Sales).

35 minutes of PS4 exclusives (The Order, Uncharted, Santa Monica's new game, etc.)

6 minutes of more sales figures.

15 minutes of Multiplatform games (Shown on PS4)

10 minutes of PS3 games (Tales of Zestiria, Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom, etc.)

15 minute exhibition of PS Now.

15 minutes of Indies coming to PS4/PS3/PS Vita

5 minute collage video.

The End.

Oops, yeah we still have this system... which was its name? Oh, yeah! PS Vita. We are still provinding it a buch of Indies you can play also on PS3, PS4, and (thanks to PS Now) in your tablets, smarthphones and even TV's, so don't bother about buying it, unless you want an expensive PS4 peripheral to use Remote Play.

Ubisoft said they are happy with the sale of  Assasin Creed Liberation so how the hell you said none of the games sold well Call of duty is a really bad game with a small budget i'm sure Activision got a good amount of income.

Fifa 2013 would be a million sellers if it was not the same game as Fifa Soccer same for Fifa 2014

Late port will not save vita but spin off can save it and i'm tired to hear about games better suited on handheld and other better suited on console Uncharted is console like game, lbp is better suited to handheld but Uncharted outsold lbp by a lot.

I didnt say Ubisoft were unhappy though? My point was that none of the software sales on the PSV really encourages third parties to invest heavily in the platform. So ubisoft wanted 600k sales..whose to say that number brings in a profit? What if that was just enough to break even?  Selling 900k units on an expected 600k doesnt really entice Ubisoft to go out an build a AAA PSV exclusive. They will probably just make another spin off and again that wont really save the vita. I dont see how you can say that? I mean what evidence do you have to back up that claim?

And also the fact that Activision released a subpar game for their premium franchise on the PSV says it all really. They already dont have any confidence in the platform. They clearly not willing to invest in the PSV. And whether the PSV cod was a bad game or a low budget game those sales wont entice them to invest heavily in the PSV. I think you have too much faith in the reasonable expectations of Activision :P

As for your Fifa comment...do you really think casual Fifa fans know that a game is rehashed? Look at COD? Hell even Fifa on the PS3 was practically unchanged until FIFA 14!

As for your last comment..theres nothing really for you to back it up. Sony has tried home console games on a handheld and quite frankly it doesnt sell well. It didnt sell well on the PSP and it doesnt sell well on the PSV.

Yep. They will have GR2, maybe one or two other big games and a whole bunch of indies. The rest of the time will be on ps4. Still the vita is doing pretty well in Japan and I think we will see a number of japanese games though these may not come to EU or US.

Vita needs other big exclusive games in the west, at the moment, the only 2 big exclusives are uncharted and ac:l ( not anymore an exclusive in fact) . But there is not enough games to show to the publishers games sell well on Vita, they only  very bad system sales in the west.

(Btw i really dont think games like COD or ac:liberation would sell better on 3DS)

Vita will be a excellent japanese console, with few western games ( the next is infamous according to famousmortimer)

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Thats what i was saying :O I agree!

Yeah COD and AC would probably sell worse on the 3DS even if the 3DS had double its current install base ;)

I think Sony needs to re-evaluate their strategy with their mobile consoles...they have tried to bring the home console experience to the mobile gamer but the market has rejected that approach. Sony needs to adapt.

Do you think a editors will be happy if it's game are profitable,i will be happy if they release another spin off,i think it's you who should proove that Assasin Creed Liberation is not profitable.

How could a editors don't have confidence in a platform when they don't make any effort,Call of duty Black ops 2 sold 0.21 million is 4 ime less then psv one do you think a game who sold 0.21 will generate more income then a game who sold 0.8 million. If action didn't make another Vita call of duty because of bad sale why they make another call of duty on wii u when the first sold horribly.

Yes fifa fans now the games is rehashed i don't think they are so much stupid i not a fans of soccer games but i think Fifa 2014 have better graphics some new move etc cod games should have new maps,a new story better multiplayer.

Sony try handheld game on vita and it sold a lot worst then their console game on vita,Uncharted is a console like game and it's a millions sellers ,Tearaway is a handheld like game and it can't even sold a half millions.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I wasnt asking you to prove that Ubisoft made a profit. I was simply saying that we dont know what the margins were with the 900k sales. Ubisoft could have meant anything with the expected 600k. Il ask this again...do you think Ubisoft will increase their investment in the PSV based on the sales of liberation? Because i seriously doubt it.

Other than that I think you are missing my point. I'm not saying third parties wont publish games on the PSV im saying they wont invest in the platform in any significant way.

Until games start selling well third parties wont increase their investment. The problem is they need to make good games in order for them to sell...its a bad cycle and thats why console manufacturers need to lead the way when it comes to showing the viabiliy of the console. Sony has failed to do that.

And really Fifa fans have been buying EVERY fifa on the PS3 since Fifa06! The game didnt really change much up until 2014! I've played every one of them!

They will claim to have "big" announcements and then just announce small indie games.
