Edit: As for it being some WII U exclusive the developers clearly mean for it to be multiplatform.

They weren't specifically referring to just the WII U in general, this also includes last gen and current gen platfroms too.

No. But one can hope it`s still in january, like last year.

There`s actually a rumor where Nintendo will hold a press conference this month. It started with Renegade Kids announcing that it`s 3DS game being part of a press conference in January. Another developer said Nintendo contacted them and other Indies for pics and videos of their games.
So, it`s either a Renegade Kids press conference or Nintendo is doing something.
