Mobile versions of consoles are a bad idea, ngage and xperia play anyone?

Mobile versions of consoles ? You mean like 3DS DS Gameboy and PSP ? Its like always a plan succeeds if the execution of said plan is good. If Nintendo markets this thing big. Brings all the big titles and markets their addons for different phone manufacturers they will succeed especially if the experience to their mobile consoles is equal or even superior people will buy it. I doubt that Nintendo can succeed with a Smartphone+handheld cross though because of the high expectations people put into smartphones these days.

There's a big difference between mobile and portable.

Mobile being a phone.

Its all just semantics the concept is almost exactly the same in the end. Phones and handhelds can be the same thing. I dont see much difference between those two Nintendo could put the same effort in establishing a Platform agnostic gaming service on phones and there is no reason why they can not succeed. Who wants to  carry around two devices anyway.

Could, but won't.

Finally !! I was looking for someone like you more than two decades now. Can you tell me the lottery results for next week pls ?

That 2nd image is in-line with my 3DSPhone idea. if managed correctly, I think it could be a big success.

Those look pretty disgusting. But I will follow the games.

Use some sense people, the 3ds is the only hardware Nintendo have right now that's doing well, but its dual screen, moving it to mobile without the mobile being large would not work, instead they would have to move it to tablet, this would require a custom OS which negates the benefits of it being a tablet, as such they would need to use android, they won't however because they know their games would be ripped and cracked to work on any device within hours, and even if they released across android as a whole, piracy of the games would be rife.

Nintendo would not release a Nintendo branded tablet without heavy control over the software, the software would essentially be crippled and restricted, and even then people with other tablets would just play cracked versions.

At the same time releasing games or new hardware would mean offering up their 3ds library to new devices, where security is not as tight, they would not do this for fear of it impacting the 3ds as a whole.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo will go third party or release new hardware within the next 3 years is kidding themselves, all were going to see is a wiiu price drop.

Nobody is saying that this will happen right now or in the next year. The 3ds has two screens but its not unthinkable for Nintendo to customize their games for mobile phones. Piracy is and was a thing on all Nintendo consoles. I dont think Nintendo having an Android eshop or similar will change that somehow. Its not a completly out of this world theory that Nintendo might do that step in the future if their platform sales further decline 3ds is not the DS maybe it will be even worse next gen alot can happen could be better or worse but if its getting even worse (no homeconsole) 4DS sells worse than 3DS etc Nintendo could change their strategy.

What would be the target audience for this device? There isn't one..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Indeed but as things stand the one thing Nintendo want to do is build confidence in their shareholders, moving elsewhere anytime soon reeks of instability and would make shareholders panic, the only thing they can do is stick with the wiiu and 3ds and try to turn things around.

Personally I think the solution lies with interoperability between the 3ds and wiiu, for example allowing 3ds owners to play with the upper screen displayed on their TV and conversely, play their wiiu from their 3ds remotely.
The wiki already has the streaming tech in place for the tablet, so it isn't far fetched.

I would.

I see Nintendo going Android as a future possibility if they dont manage to do something about their current situation in the next years.

Hmm, for the OP: I think it can be interesting.

Yeah, if managed correctly , it can gives a hype for some time. But I do not think that would be a big success, since apple or samsung ( the 2 biggest companies in this market) can eat Nintendo alive without putting effort. Apple is way bigger than Nintendo, and if nintendo went in this market ( and we know that nintendo has a poorly advertisement ). apple or samsumg would simply release a suchlike device, and with their strong advertisement, Nintendo would lose that hype, and fail.

Most antecipated games: Mario Kart 8 and Warlords of Draenor.
