cant even tell its on. my wife and i played through knack last week and it gets dark at 4pm here now so we were always playing in the dark. Never had a problem with battery life either. I just always plugged it in when we turned it off to watch netflix

I only find it annoying during movies. In that case it works to just set the controller to auto shut off.

Games can't turn off the light, so if it's something you really have issues with just keep letting Sony know.

i thought the same thing. i could play for that if i was jonsing or home sick or something but damn... cant seeing to need more than that in a single go. hell after 5 hours pause the game plug it in and go eat something for 20min and have another 7hours of life

DS3 lasted more than 20hrs

Wii U pro lasts over 70hrs

yeah for a controller, 7 is short.

Giant issue for me. I hate the DS4 even without the annoying light but that just gives it the rest. I don't know why Shuhei has to be such a dick about this. Why wouldn't he even consider it?
Can't wait to get my hands on the first 3rd party controllers.

Since He's a dick about the light I guess compatibility for the DS3 is out of the question as well.

giant issue? do you hate seeing a few things in front of you with a blue tint that much?

I usually play in a completely dark room in my bed. The only way the controller will not reflect on the screen is putting it behind my legs which then almost blinds me because of the close reflection on the sheets and also forces me into an uncomfortable position.

Another thing is the extremely short battery life. My gaming sessions tend to be a lot longer than 5h.

But what bugs me the most is that it not only is a useless feature for the most part but that it would be so easy to disable it by a simple software patch yet they refuse to do it. I can only assume they do this to deliberately piss me off. As if the awkward shape and the dissolving rubber on the sticks is not enough.

If you really look closely, the PS4 controller is the ultimate sex toy for your girl. Those handles look like penises and the light in the controller gives the room a strong blue light color giving it the "love hotel" feel. The controller also rumbles...

Surprised there are no "cover" accessories on Amazon/Ebay yet. Perhaps the light isn't a big deal to most or they just duct-taped it themselves.

I love the light on the controller

Not actually sure why.. i think its just because it looks cool. I hope they keep the light bar going forward. I gives the controller a very futuristic look..and it goes very well with the lights and pulsing of the PS4 console...again very futuristic looking...it kinda makes the ps4 feel "alive".

My only concern is the effect the light has on the longevity of the battery. Which really doesn't last long at all.

Edit: The speaker for example has a MAJOR impact on the battery.

it has built in touchpad and speakers, so the light alone cant be the only blame.
