"Secret sauce" = hand written signs and $700 bundles, PS4 doomed confirmed!
Ugh, Ill be glad when the systems have been out for a while so this anecdotal crap can go away.
GameStop is full of fanboys anyway. Most of it's employees tend to judge you for what you buy, and some go as far as trying to talk you out of buying said product. That's what I experience, anyway.
I was at a local GameStop on PS4's launch day (to buy Super Mario 3D World, of course), and overheard several conversations between the employees and people that were there to pick up their PS4's. They actually had PS4's available even without preorder. Well, anyway, in one case, the employees told a woman that asked for a PS4 that she should expect it to freeze and that she would have to return it to Sony (remeber that blue pulsing light thing?), stating that "Sony fucked up again" and that it shows that Sony "are incompetent idiots", advising the woman to buy an Xbox One as that "is much better and has better games anyway".
I'm not particularly Sony-sided or Anti-Xbox or anything (I root for Nintendo, you see), but stuff like that just pisses me off. It's completely unprofessional, and sadly, this tends to be what happens at GameStop. I actually got laughed at for buying Super Mario 3D World, with the employees telling me that it's stupid to buy a game for a dead console. Well, just let that be my decision, all right?
Anyway, I've been to at least 40 different GameStops in Germany and around 6 GS/EBGames in North America, and I only really encountered about 10 competent, non-judging employees there. It's sad.
That said, signs like that are completely okay in my book (it's not the most professional stuff to do but hey, we are talking about GameStop here), but trashing other products should never be resorted to. Generally, I'd expect people working in retail to be more or less objective when I ask them about a product.

| KingdomHeartsFan said: I saw this and thought it was funny http://pixelenemy.com/gamestop-seem-to-be-struggling-to-sell-xbox-one-make-homemade-signs/ It seems as though GameStop are struggling to sell Xbox Ones, one NeoGAF user found an interesting marketing angle being used when he went into his local GameStop today. The staff have made some prison art style signs that steer customers off some of the false Xbox One issues.
It also seems like the employees are pushing for Xbox One sales, giving negative feedback on the PlayStation 4 systems one employee apparently even said that he uses his PlayStation 4 as a stand for his Kinect, because it has no games. The amount of stock is similar in most places, Australia and the UK. Everywhere you turn people have them in stock. |
YEAH ITS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE STILL DONT KNOW THIS. like i asked my friends who arent going next gen yet which console they would choose when they do go next gen and they said practically "probably ps4, i heard xbox spies on you and is so restricted". Theres alot of people who dont go to gaming sites every day and dont know the news guys. Legit, let gamestop do their thing and you do yours.

What about people who doesn't know which one is more powerfull. Would that be legit too?
They could have a paper saying: "Did you know the PS4 is more powerfull than the Xbox One".
Two things:
1) I think that MS has done a pretty bad job of informing the regular joe consumer. Anecdotal: My uncle has a 360 and really liked it, but he had "heard somewhere that the new xbox won't play used games". I don't know where he heard that, but it was pretty much the first thing he knew about the X1
2) Do these people not know how to use a printer?
Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League
And people say EA is the worst company in America. I say to those people, give others a chance!
