I expect Gamestop's business will probably settle to a lower normal now that all console have day-and-date digital for all games. Some will go all-digital, but plenty of others will stick with retail, if for no other reason than that it is what they are used to.
Gamestop will be losing me as a customer when I go all digital, though I'm not switching out of any antipathy toward the retailer (I just want fast-switching for X1 games). In fact, I've been going to Gamestop for most of my gaming purchases in the last few years (mainly, though not entirely, because of the pre-order bonuses), and I must say they've been good to me. I've gotten great service; they've always been friendly and they've never been pushy about any of their products. One time they went out of their way for me; I was picking up The Witcher 2 for X360, and when I brought it to the counter the cashier noticed that the pin-up map that was supposed to come with it was missing. I didn't even know that I was supposed to get a map. She checked the shelves to see if there was another copy of the game that had it, and then checked in the back, and when she didn't find it she offered me a 10% discount on the game, which I accepted. She could have said nothing and I would have paid full price for an incomplete package and never known it.
