Forums - Sony - Sony Explains why PSV has come up short

Mobile is one part of it, lack of interesting games is the other.

Sony need to rethink their approach with Vita...

The Vita is like the Wii-U; messed up by its company's reputation in its market. Unfortunately unlike the Wii-U which has made a point of having a very strong 2014 line-up I really don't see what Sony have planned for Vita.

The Vita has a lot of potential. I doubted it at first, but after buying one I realized how great of a handheld it is. It can still be successful, but with lack of a major system seller and a lack of games, it'll suffer until those needs are met.

I agree the PS-Vita is awesome and a great price for what it offers as a portable dedicated gaming machine, but what it lacks is games that really move the Sony gamer audience to adopt hardware. Many of the games on PS-Vita are just inferior versions of games available on PS3 or PS4 now.

I do play on my PS-Vita, but never outside of the home, or I should say rarely. I play it mainly if I am traveling, but not when I am out and about. It is too big to lug around, and the battery life is short, and if I am going to carry any device, it is the SmartPhone device and not the Vita.

When I am at home, then I prefer to play PS3, PS4, Wii U, etc over either 3DS XL or PS-Vita. The exception of course is when there is a great must play game only on the portable and those tend to happen more on the 3DS XL than Vita (most recently Zelda - Link Between Worlds).

Its because they never supported the system thoroughly with quality, well conceived games. Nintendo on the other hand almost sacrificed the Wii U in order provide the 3DS with a stellar line up. We still haven't seen any of sonys valued developers touch the Vita.

It's genetics.

Sounds like they are giving up...

why cant just sony sometimes admit that their main competitors is killing their product...

Because it has no GAMES! And even if it did, I doubt people would run out and buy it.

I really don't mind carrying around y Vita. I need dedicated controls.
Mobile games are really not my cup of tea. I love full fledged games, great controls and epic experiences.
What Ive seen on the mobile gaming scene just dosen't cut it for me.
I will continue to play my Vita, and for the record, the current game line-up on Vita is AWESOME.

I have a Vita and I do enjoy it, but smartphones are where it's at for mobile gaming nowadays. The gaming library on Android is phenomenal nowadays with loads of great adventure games and RPGs for me to play. The Chaos Rings and Zenonia franchises could keep me going for years, and that's just scratching the tip of the RPG iceberg. It's also so much more convenient to have my phone and games machine as one device.
