I can write what ever I want. If I'm critisizing him for using the word, why would I turn myself into a hypocrit by using them myself. You're not an hypocrite, because you're using his exact words to ilustrate your example. "Softing" them, feels dumb. For me, at least.

I agree with you as people will read the actual word in their minds anyway. I don't find fag or faggot insulting in the slightest, whether it is written in a derogatory sentence or used as it is in this instance, it is a word like any other. What I do find offensive is when people use gay as a negative, as in "oh that's gay", but even then it is a passing twinge of upset/anger that is soon forgotten as my being gay is such a tiny facet of who I am.
