Forums - Nintendo - How to get into some Nintendo franchises?

Hi, everyone.

I feel like I'm a flop Nintendo fan, so I'd like to ask for some help. I started stanning a bit hard for Nintendo last year when I bought a Wii and a 3DS. The games I bought include lots of Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong and Pokémon (yes, I only buy 1st party games, fuck 3rd parties). Those are the only Nintendo franchises I stan for, though. Because of that, I decided to illegally download play some other franchises like Animal Crossing and Pikmin to see if I'd get into them. I downloaded the GC ones. I quite liked Animal Crossing, but it lacks lots of features that are in AC:NL and I kind of wanted to buy it so I could have more stuff to do than the partially-boring original game. Apart from that, they are AWESOME. Specially Pikmin, they're really cute. Loved that game.

Unfortunately, I don't know how I could get myself into other more popular franchises, like Zelda or Metroid. Any suggestions? I know there's a recente getting-into-Zelda thread here, but I'd like to know if there are any other Nintendo franchises I should play and where I should start playing them from.

Playing them would be a good start.

Ocarina of Time 3D. Go.

Yup, and as for Metriod, 2D for Super Metroid and 3D Metroid Prime (or Trilogy for a more fluid controls).

I'd start with the Prime trilogy for Metroid if you can still find them all.

As for Zelda, I personally started with Twilight Princess, then Skyward Sword and finally A Link between Worlds. Next will be Ocarina of Time 3D normally.

I liked ALBW the best. TP had the best story and I never really got into Skyward Sword...

Games are ridiculously expensive here in Brazil. I don't know if I'm willing to blow R$150 (~$65) on OOT3D. Guess I'll have to try that one later. Or maybe the original? How are the controls for it on the Wii?

Both of you said Metroid Prime. I'll try that one (gonna be a bitch to find that). I have Super Metroid, but never bothered to play it. I'll try it as well.

I'll try to look for more about Twilight Princess.

Any other franchises?

Haven't played it yet, but Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon looks pretty interesting. I'll buy it soon enough anyway. :p

Luigi's Mansion is amazing. I bought it like two days ago. You're gonna love it, so buy it ASAP. x)

Learn to like reading and play Wind Waker for the gamecube/wiiU, many say that if you are trying to get into zelda, that is the game to start off with... Ocarina of time sets the standard too high imo

And also play Fire Emblem if you got a 3ds as well as Kid Icarus

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Start with the best of the best. For Zelda start with Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess.

For Metroid just go ahead and play Super Metroid!

I would strongly recommend F-Zero (GX, specifically. It's a Gamecube game so your Wii console should be able to run it). If you can't find it used, you should download it for your PC since Nintendo hasn't made the game available anywhere, meaning they won't lose any sales from it.

Other than that, Super Smash Bros. will release for the 3DS soon. Even if you generally don't like fighting games, this series should still be very enjoyable since it differs a lot from the established fighting game norms. Especially with local multiplayer. Any of the other Smash games (N64, GC, Wii) should be a good starting point if you feel like you don't want to wait for the new game to arrive.
