Forums - Microsoft - "Threshold" to be Called Windows 9, Ship in April 2015

I love windows 8, but that's probably because my laptop has an integrated touchscreen. I could see it being annoying without the touchscreen. I am excited however to see what improvements/new stuff they bring in with windows 9.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

The reason I never use the metro apps is because of how inconvenient they are to use. On Linux and Mac you could always just run them on the desktop so this seems like a logical improvement for Windows, and it's good to see the start menu coming back.

They need to lose this idea of one experience for all you devices. Horrid, they all need to work together but not share the same OS.
They need to be tailored to each device they are running on. Window 8 was a bad idea and i can't wait to see what 9 does, I hope it's more like 7, as that's what i plan to stay on till they release something acceptable for PC use, now windows 8 is fine on a tablet. I haven't used a phone yet. So i cant say, but like android and what it has to offer.

They need to knock it out of the park, worries me how they thought W8 was a good idea on PC.

One of my earliest expirience with W8 was helping a family friend turn off his laptop. His not very technical but has been using W7 for a while now and know how to do the basic like check email etc. He called me after 30 minutes of being unable find the off button.

MS did some great things with W8 but yea, metro UI and the removal of the start button weren't it.

XP was awesome, Vista was garbage, 7 was awesome, 8 was garbage, hopefully the cycle will continue and we'll get an awesome OS this time around.

just to correct Metro doesn't exist anymore it's Modern UI now following a lawsuite on trademark with the free newspaper I believe...

anyway... I can't wait for the merging of all the Oss especially if means the store becomes one for all and most app become cross compatible....

anyway I'm very happy with win8 in tablet PC or desktop mode since I got it at launch.... I wouldn't buy a PC with win7 on it today.... some people don't like the UI but from pure technical stand point it surpasses win7 by far for me... faster, lighter and more stable and less compatibility issues so far with all my hardware....

yeah until they stop updating it and you have no choice but to upgrade.

Restore full desktop mode that's 100% windows 7. And all apps run in that mode. I'll buy it. No more trying to tell me to go buy a touch screen for my desk.

Windows 8 usually has more compatability problems for people and has last stable drivers. Count yourself lucky.
