The Cloverfield movie was ruined by the shakeycam bollocks, so for that reason alone it's Godzilla. Pacific Rim was ruined by the oil tanker baseball bat scene, suspension of disbelief has it's limits.

Your first mistake was trying to apply any semblence of realism to a giant monster movie. You might as well ask why FPS characters regenerate from bullet wounds after a few seconds. ;)

I know that, it's just that scene really jarred for some reason.

Godzillas powers are random bullshit they make up for each movie, especially the newer ones. Stopping comets with his blast is nonsense. The original Godzilla was killed by man made weapons btw, says it cannot in OP.

No he was destroyed by a fictional nonsense weapon in the 1954 movie.

Giant radiation breathing lizard vs nonsense weapon.  I fail to see an issue.   But fine, he wa defeated by falling ice/rocks in the second movie.

Difference between killed and defeated. ;) Godzilla has only actually died twice; in the original, and in Godzilla vs Destoroyah.

I would take the 30 Godzilla movies over the one cloverfield movie any day. And who is to say if cloverfield is a runt and will not grow much bigger? lol

Plus when you think about it Godzilla is like Wolverine with his healing ability, you cant stop the godzilla train!

1) Godzilla's powers have essentially been intelligence, fighting, tail, atomic breath and health regeneration... in every movie. The only odd addition I've ever seen is his weird flying capability in like one movie.

2) Godzilla's atomic breath is not the same as a nonsense weapon. I specifically said man made weapons and was obviously referring to the same types of weapons we've seen other monsters killed by including the very much wounded cloverfield from massive bombing.

3) Being trapped in ice (for a limited time) is not the same as being killed.

As curl-6 mentioned. Godzilla has only died/been killed twice. Once in his first movie when they obviously didn't even know if monster movies would make money so they created some crazy weapon that they defined as a literally world-ending type of device. Clearly out of scope of what my OP intention states. The second was by his own doing where his internal fusion heart simply melted down.
