I disagree. I doubt these things will make much money. The PS4 is certainly doing very well for them though.
All the real money is in smartphones, and after the Xperia Z, Sony hasn't released any big popular phone. Even the Xperia Z's sales had fallen after Samsung and HTC released their own flagship smartphones.

You can disagree all you want the facts are sony is positioning themselves in the long run to be a lot stronger company, that is obvious. A company sony's size it takes time however. One division at a time.

I think they on the right track with the Xperia Z...its definitely done wonders for the brand. Before the Z Sony didnt really have a smartphone that competed well against the flagship phones from Samsung, Apple, HTC, and LG.

Read any article or watch any youtube video about the best smartphones of 2013 or top 10 smartphones etc. and you will see that the Z is right up there in most of them. Thats a massive difference compared to 2 years ago.

The creator of the article hasn't seen Sony financials recently. Is extremely hard to come back from something like that.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Considering everyone is switching to t mobile. And Sony managed to get their sequal flagship z1 to the u.s before Samsung could get 800 in their phone.. Is glig to help them a lot.. Z1s is probably one of if not the best smartphone option right now at t mobile

mM

They need to get there phones out on more networks. They are really competitive phones and T-mobile really holds them back. Personally I would buy a Z1 Compact if I could get it on a network that well...worked.

It is really good to see them showing off new products and trying new things though. I think the future is looking brighter for Sony these days.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

How are any of these new products or services gonna make money?
PS now might slightly boost the sales of their tablets and TV's, I doubt cloud TV, and life space UX  will make Sony billions. The Xperia compact phone could sell respectably, but it certainly won't do amazingly. I hadn't even heard of this phone before.

Thats another area where Sony hasnt been doing too well...getting their flagship phones onto US mobile providers. They take waaaay too long. And not only that but they only seem to go with T Mobile. That doesnt give consumers much of a choice.

Youtubers who do mobile reviews are particularly vocal about this against Sony. Its kinda like shooting yourself in the foot XD

You are right. This has been a very good achievement by Hirai.

The Xperia Z was quite succesful for Sony and the waterproof gimick made the phone very succesful.

Waterproof has nothing to do with it..it is one of the best phones of the market.

No the waterproof thing was its main selling point. Before that Sony were still releasing high end phones that nobody was buying even though they were just as good as the top Samsung Galaxy and Iphones. The Xperia Z's waterproof and dust proof feature really made it stand out.
