Death By Atomic Wedgie: Man Allegedly Kills Stepfather with Classic Bully Maneuver

There’s no way to confirm it, but a McLoud, Okla., man may be the first person ever to be charged with killing someone by “atomic wedgie.”

Police say Brad Davis, 33, got into a row with his stepfather Denver Lee St. Clair, 58, on Dec. 21. The fight ended with Davis suffocating St. Clair with his own underwear and striking him in the head.

Davis, a former Marine, told detectives that the fight started with his stepfather badmouthing his mother. An argument ensued which soon turned physical with St. Clair attempting to strike first. After more punches were thrown between the two men, Davis told police he’d given St. Clair the “atomic wedgie.”

“We continued our investigation and uncovered evidence that led us to believe that this was more than just a fight,” said Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth told KJRH-TV.

An atomic wedgie is achieved when an aggressor successfully pulls the elastic band of his victims underwear over his head — but only if his boxers or briefs stretch that far. Medical examiners say Davis was able to fix the garment over St. Clair’s death and choke him with it. They confirmed that St. Clair’s cause of death was by asphyxiation and blunt force trauma, The Oklahoman reported.

Davis was arrested and is being held at the Pottawatomie County jail on a homicide charge.
