I think 7M is an easy task now. If the ramp up the current production rate to send enough units to Japan, then they can reach 8M.

In this pace they can be close to 20M units after Q4 2014.



Bet with jetforcejiminy: PS4 will pass the Wii lifetime numbers.

Its starting to show IN STORES in small amounts. I've seen it as have others on this site. It will need to build up in stores before some sites start to show qty to order.

Same thing happened with Xbone. First you see trickling stock in stores. Then you see forced bundles online. Then you see normal solo product online. That all happened with Xbone from a week or so before Xmas until now where nearly every site has it available in its regular $499 price option online.

Like others have said, Sony will sell as many as they can produce for quite a while so 8 mil is possible, although I see it being more like 7.

Sony is shipping consoles every week for the retail and the stores gets some units contantly... so you can go to the store and see units but if you just go back some time later you will see they got sold out (again).

That's how Sony sold over 2 million units in 28 days while most stores didn't show the product in stock... because the stock get sold out in matter os minutes or hours.

I'm sure the three units some guys reported here early is already sold out... it will take a new look tonight to share with us.

People thinks Sold Out means Sony is not shipping or selling nothing... not that's just means they are selling everything they shipped.

The only thing preventing it from reaching those numbers is how much they can manufacture by then, considering that the hype momentum continues through March of course.

I guess we will see stock first in US... some EU places are preordering for March already.

I doubt it would take that long. I think retailers are being a bit cautious as Sony is likely diverting some manufacturing away to prep for Japan.
