Little Big Planet would be my choice. Followed by Angry Birds :D

Something classy, still pretty hard though. But it isn't ridiculously hard. It should be possible.

Pokemon. Partly because of my own, very fond memories (to this day I don't think I've spent more time on one series or played through the same game more times), partly because they're just legitimately very good. Also it's the perfect beginners JRPG :)

Also if you do give them FFIV, don't be tempted to give them the DS version, it's harder than the original, it gave me a bit of trouble before I lost steam with it when I bought my Vita. I should finish it really but I sort of completely didn't realize about the augment system and now I'm a bit stuck on a boss
