I am really shocked at how well Xbox One is selling against PS4. Its doing INCREDIBLE numbers. IS PS4 selling good?

PS4 is available in over 50 countries and Xbox One less than 20. And in US Xbox One is regularly outselling PS4 each week. Apart from only 1 week. I was lead to believe Xbox One demand was lower. Xbox should get a nice boost when it releases in the 35 or so countries which only has PS4 at the moment.

Eh, wait until the Holidays are well and truely done. When we know that pent up demand has been met and one or both arent struggling to keep up with said demand. Right now the hardware sales dont really matter. Theyre selling what theyre producing. Look at the Wii U launch and how well it was seemingly doing, right up until we hit January and it tanked hard.

That said, even tying with Xbox One in America will be seen as a pretty big win for Sony after the bloodbath that was 360 vs PS3 there. Going by VGChartz numbers they currently hold a ~200k lead in the main Xbox stronghold. Sony will be more than happy with that while the rest of the world is choosing PS4.

Almost two thirds of the Xbox One sales are coming from the US alone. When the holiday season is no more and we start to see the huge drops, the rest of the world simply arent going to be buying Xbox One in any meaningful number. Its already posting relatively poor numbers outside of the US. I think its gonna be quite similar to what we saw with Wii U sales wise up until Titanfall, where it will see a modest boost.

And talking about countries yet to have a release, lets not forget what PS4 has in February shall we?

Even factoring in Xbox One is $100 more expensive?

Less than impresive numbers outside US. EU has 1/3rd of PS4 available countries. nd Xbo One is outselling PS4 in Aus. Which I believe dint happen with last gen.

Isn't the One only outselling the PS4 because Sony didn't send many units there?

Not sure. But I doubt either company sen many to Aus. I doubt MS sent many considering PS3 vs 360 sales last gen there.

Those PS4 nos are supply constrained too....

Whoa, I just noticed something interesting about Vita numbers...

For the week ending on Dec. 22nd, 2012

PSV 193,426 (+21%)

now Dec. 28th, 2013

27,874 64,172 79,226 193,441

Pretty much identical!! Also Vita is the only console up this week! (Thanks Japan! Also screw you SCEA). Though now I fear to even think of what Vita's NA numbers are going to look like in January... Hopefully it won't drop too much in EU.

This is exactly what Ive been trying to say. People keep saying "Wow X1 is doing well". How is losing your biggest market share (they had around a 20 mil lead with 360) a good thing? I can guarantee no one at MS thinks this is a good thing or is happy about this. PS4 tying or keeping up with the X1 is a huge win for Sony and a huge loss for X1 that will end up with 10 million lost customers this is not a good thig. MS wants to keep all its previous users from the 360 and add to it.

You forget one thing they competed also with the wii last gen. the main competitor is just from an other compagny nothing more nothing less.

So basicly your marketshare story isn't correct

The basic premise is the same Xbox dominated PS3 last gen and now they are right behind them. If this trend continues it will end with Xbox losing a large portion of the market share.

You miss my point the wii obliterated the xbox one in the first few years, instead of nintendo having the marketshare its sony now by the looks of it so far

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Good sales all around, next weeks chart will the first one for ending in 2014 so that's good.

At least Selnor has kept this thread interesting!

OT: I never really know what to make of the numbers outside Japan anymore. Probably should make more of an effort to track sales trends in the other two regions.

Hot damn at PSP in Europe is all I have to say for the time being.

Look at those ps3 sales this week alone they were nearly 300,000 units ahead of the wii for anyone who thought there is no chance for the ps3 long term to overtake the wii in hardware sales good luck with that prediction.

PS4 is doing well.
