So, in the land of the handhelds, Final Fantasy X HD debuts on the Vita and yet WiiU hardware sales edge out Vita hardware sales this week despite a healthy Vita sales bump?

What is this madness?

If it was a true new Final Fantasy then I think the Vita would have seen a bigger bump, but it is just a remake.  Its why I did'nt understand why people thought that Wind Waker would give the Wii U a big bump.  Its a nice game, but its a game alot of people have already played.

Agreed, but it's surprising to me that the WiiU would be able to hang tough with a handheld that saw a respectable bump that week - particularly without a new noteworthy software debut for the console.

Quoting myself from that old prediction thing i did a while back:

"I predict the following WiiU sales moving forward:

Week ending dec 8: 40 000 (real numbers ended up at 46000-48000)

Week ending dec 15: 65 000 (real numbers ended up at 70000-75000)

Week ending dec 22: 90 000 (real numbers ended up between 110 000-120 000)

Week ending dec 29: 60 000 (real numbers ended up around 75 000-80 000)

Week ending jan 05: 80 000

Reason why WiiU sales are lower the week ending dec 29 is simply shops closing and the holidays kicking in. Nothing short of Mario Kart 8 releasing that week could have changed these numbers substantially.

Japanese children will spend their giftmoney by week ending jan 05, so sales will be up then if WiiU is decently popular in that market segment. Right now its trending to be very close to 100 000 and may just be slightly over. We'll see.

Again, that is not your original prediction. Don't know if you replied to me last time when I linked you to your prediction but the week ending dec 22 was definitely a lot higher.

Yes, i did reply to you. It was changed many, many weeks ago after another user pointed out an error in my calculations. After realising it, i changed the last number and added week ending january 5. Edit: The week ending dec 29 was higher. Everything else was pretty much spot on.

Famitsu top 10 2013

01. [3DS] Pokémon X / Y (Nintendo) {2013.10.12} - 3.976.829
02. [3DS] Monster Hunter 4 (Capcom) {2013.09.14} - 3.293.312
03. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} - 1.730.182 / 4.017.159
04. [3DS] Friend Collection: New Life (Nintendo) {2013.04.18} - 1.580.067
05. [3DS] Dragon Quest VII: Fighters of Eden (Square Enix) {2013.02.07} - 1.223.268
06. [3DS] PazuDora Z: Puzzle & Dragons Z (GungHo Online Entertainment) {2013.12.12} - 1.005.697
07. [3DS] Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (Nintendo) {2013.03.20} - 982.737
08. [PS3] Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two Interactive Japan) {2013.10.10} - 605.882
09. [WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} - 965.794
10. [WIU] Wii Party U (Nintendo) {2013.10.31} - 518.766

With this being the last numbers for calendar year 2013, i see it fitting to address the top selling software for that year. As we can see there is a Nintendo combobreaker at number 8 with GTA5 being the top selling western published title in Japan. This is actually a historic event since at no prior year has this ever happened before. Could this be the sign of a paradigm shift where western publishers could have great success in Japan?

So yes, another year of Nintendomination happened on the software front with Nintendo dominating the best seller list for 2013. 6 games in the top 10 was published by Nintendo, 1 game by Capcom, 1 game by SE, 1 game by GungHo, 1 game by T2 Interactive.

Here's for 2014. Will Nintendo be dominant this year? I believe its going to be hard arguing against that.

"How the heck is the Vita FF10 nearly outselling the PS3 version :/ Japanese gamers are so strange.."

That's the twin pack. It has ffx and x-2. FFX Vita only sold 22k according to Famitsu.

And of course it's gonna sell well. It's a portable Final Fantasy X and X-2 international.

Is it strange that persona 4 golden sold well on the Vita?

No not really, its a great game and there is not a lot of quality to play on the Vita at present :P.

Notice that a Final Fantasy remaster outsells a mainline Zelda

Whatever makes you feel better about Sony lmao

But Isnt FFX on 2 different platforms? so there is that

Edit: Notice LoZ OoT 3D (a remaster) outsold almost every Vita Game LTD in Japan? :P

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - 600,839

What was the need for this jab?

You're constantly posting about that Nintendomination crap you like to repeat so much, but this is too much for you to handel. The user has not even mentioned Sony, which you do.

Now tell me, which of the two do you consider trolling?

Yes, the salt is strong with you i see

Just so i dont have to hear your crying "Yes im trolling". Happy now? hope so lmao

Why do you always think everyone is attacking Nintendo? Drop the shield and stop this. The community is a lot nicer without it.

Great numbers from JP this week. FF is still popular, wish SE would drop FFXIII and would just get back to their roots.

I'm glad Wii Party U did! After all that weeks with sub 7k is a impressive mark. I know it was bundled, but that means Wii Party U sold 518k Wii U's.
