evade the point with personal attacks as much as you want. you called the wii u version a slight hd upgrade over the 3ds version when that's clearly not the case.

I didnt evade the point, look at the first sentance. What is so different about the two versions other than graphics? Each version may have a couple exclusive stages or characters but is that really enough to say they arent essentially the same game?

first you talk about resolution, now graphics. anyway, what is so different about mario kart on wii and ds/3ds, other than graphics. this is still the only smash bros either console will get and sales of the wii u version won't be affected.

When I said HD upgrade, I mean better graphics/visuals. And the difference between MKDS and MKWii were a 2.5 year gap in release date and the Wii version had motion controls. U have yet to explain to me what is so different about Smash Bros U/3D, im starting to believe u cant think of a single thing.

mario kart wii didn't have relevant motion controls. and I already said that this is the only smash bros each console will get. the stages and overall experience is different and, much like mario kart, many people will buy both.

I just can't see someone that owns a wii u and likes/loves smash bros not buying the wii u version.

What the hell does relevant motion controls even mean? I already pointed out that each version will have a few exclusive stages. you cant just say the experience is different, that is the most vague response ever and doesnt explain anything.

Of course Wii U owners that like Smash Bros are going to get it. The point is that 3DS has an install base of over 40m while Wii U has 5m and 3DS is half the price so it has a bigger potential audience and for people that dont own either console but want Smash Bros, the 3DS option is much cheaper.

With that said im not implying that Smash Bros U will sell poorly just that it wont sell as well as if it was exclusive. Im guessing each version will sell 5-7m.

People here saying 8-10M. Reality is the Wii U is at 5 million sold. So are you saying the Wii U is going to sell another 5 million console's before the game comes out ? or is that including 3ds sells. Kind of absurd to have a 100% attachment rate.

I Would say M kart 1.3M-2.8M and Smash 950k-1.8M Wii U only sales not including 3ds.

Finally a man with common sense. Wii U will be lucky to hit 10 million in sales by the end of 2014 and games don't usually have over 10% attachment because everyone is different and likes different games.

Neither of u are using any sort of common sense. Since when is it unheard of for a game to have a 10% attach rate? Here is the number of games on each Nintendo console to have a 10% attach rate.

NES-5, SNES-6, N64-12, GC-11, Wii-9, Wii U-9

Also every Mario Kart/Smash Bros game has had over 10% attach rate.

What does Wii U sales by end of 2014 have to do with anything? This is about lifetime sales and Kart/Smash each sold about 7m on GC with an install base of just over 20m. If Wii U can match that lifetime then there is no reason why those games cant sell that well.

I think Mario Kart will get about a 50% attach rate by the end of 2014, a good question is will it drive Wii U sales? I'll play it safe and say 4.5 million copies by the end of 2014.

Smash will get maybe 25-30% attach rate since it's a fighting game & not as accessible as MK, again, will it be a system seller? I'll say around 2.3 million by year end.

im sorry but no. NSMBWiiU has sold a little more than 3 mil. thats with it being bundled and on the market for little more than a year. It is a far more popular franchise than either Smash or Kart. you think MK will do more than a 2d Mario with only 9 months? Explain.

Your Smash numbers make sense...if one wants to pretend their is no 3DS version, which i gaurantee will take some sales away from the WIi U.

NSMB is far more popular than Mario Kart? MKWii outsold NSMBWii, MK7 outsold NSMB2...

on average yes it is. MKWii is the exception not the norm. 2d marios do better most of the time

And what about MK7?

what about it? that game has less sales than the Mario bro games for Wii and DS and other older 2d Marios. It looks to be tracking about par with MK for DS which would reinforce that MKWii is the exception not the rule. Unless you think that MK7 will eventually do MKWii numbers.

He means MK7 is doing better than NSMB2

it came out a whole year before NSMB2 n its not that far behind...and it was bundled

According to this site in 2013 NSMB2 has sold 2m and MK7 has sold 1.7m, at this rate it will take many years for NSMBU to outsell MK7

the install bases for 3ds versus Wii U arent even remotely the same. a better comparison would be MK8 with NSMBU, still not ideal but better

Mario Kart 8 looks gorgeous. Here's hoping it sells at least half the amount as Mario Kart Wii.

Smash Bros sales numbers are a really tough call, but heres what we do know.

1. Brawl is the best selling fighting game of all time.
2. The 6.5 year gap between Melee and Brawl made people extremely hungry for a new version and no doubt contributed to its success. Now we have another 6 year gap and the anticipation among fans and the gaming community IMO is even higher then when Brawl came out.
3. Nintendo is clearly pushing the Wii U version more then the 3DS version. They are doing a 3DS one to ensure big sales, but the Wii U version has been showcased the most (for good reason).
4. Sonic and Snake's additions were huge in terms of hyping the game. Mega Man is clearly a hit among fans, but I think Nintendo would be wise to add atleast one more big 3rd party character (Pac-Man, Ryu/Ken, Rayman, Sora idk something big enough to resonate with both the hardcore and casual fans).

My prediction is that combined between Wii U and 3DS, Super Smash Bros 4 will be the best selling fighting game of all time. I also am predicting that Nintendo will release a console bundle with Smash Bros included next Christmas. They have a chance to win 2014 with Kart/Smash alone but bundles at $250 could really launch the system into 3DS level sales.

your third point means very little im afraid, as long as the general populace knows their is a 3ds version, Ninty could push the WIi u one all they want it wont matter. We already have proof of this with Lego City and Sonic LW, hell the former got NO promotion for the 3ds version had worst reviews and still managed to outsell its Wii U counterpart.

4th point, Sonic and Snake were a much bigger deal than Mega Man is, i dont know why. But it seems people just arent that hyped for this new Wii U version than they were for Brawl or even Melee that might have something to do with consoles

My bad I meant NSMB2, at this rate it will take years to pass MK7

MK7 year by year sales

2011-3.88m (available 1 month)

2012-3.38m (first full year)

2013-1.86m

NSMB2 year by year sales

2012-5.0m (available 5 months)

2013-2.17m (first full year)

NSMB2 is tracking below MK7 and only closed the gap by 310k this year. That plus MKWii outselling NSMBWii shows that the Mario Kart is just as big or bigger than the NSMB series.
