Why do users care about sales as long as you can play what you want. I think people should let market investors worry about who sales more? We are users not market investors. More consoles never equal better games.

Furthermore, MK8 and Smash Bros failure is not dictated by sales it's dictated by whether they are good games. How many crappy games have sold a crapload of units?

Think of it this way. If wiiu stops selling, Ninty will drop support and so will the few 3rd parties that make games for it. How are you gonna enjoy the sytem and the good games, if there are none made for the sytem? The better it does, the more likely it is for great games to be released on it.

IF MK8 fails, Wii U will be doomed. No question.

Is MK even that important now?

For me it's never been as good as the SNES original.  If MK8 changes the fate of Wii U you can call me surprised.

Mario Kart is way more bigger now. Mario Kart Wii will sell until there is no more Wii. Of MK8 would be lucky if it sell half of Wii version, but I think it can sell more than GC one

If Mario Kart and Smash can't do anything then I'll admit defeat.

Just wonder if MK8 will be a big hardware seller, or if it will sell without a big boost to hardware. How many are on the fence for MK8?

My 8th gen collection

I think if there are less than 10 million total lifetime hardware sales by years end and less consoles sold in december 2014 than dec 2013, that is with no doubt the surest sign of failure, regardless of how good or bad MK8 and SSB are and how they sell.

It would not be surprising if either MK8 or SSB experience a soft debut and subsequently stay in the top 20 throughout the rest of the year and surge again for the holiday season.

given that SSB will be a 3DS release too, I doubt that the WiiU version goes totally unnoticed.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Even all pf these dont help wii U, Nintendo will not give up from wii U if it not succed. Not until 2017.

I think Vita is in a worst situation. And is Vita in a no return? i dont think so.

The Wii U will not be discontinued until ATLEAST 2017. The Wii U has so many games this year that will boost sales incredibly. Wii Fit U, DKC:TF, Mario Kart 8, SSBU, Hyrule Warriors, X, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Watch Dogs, Project Cars, and other unannounced games.

how will watch dogs improve wiiu sales when it's also out on every other console? COD Ghosts and ACIV didn't boost WiiU numbers.

It's already past the point of no return. I say throw the towel and call it a gen.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

In the end, if Nintendo ends up making profit out of the life cycle of Wii U, then I wouldn't necessarily call it a failure. Of course, if Wii U keeps up eating up money over and over again, then yeah, they'll have to ride it out and start on their next console. Maybe now they'll finally sit down and look around to understand the current market and maybe their Nextendo will cater to what's out there.
