Last year I cut back a bit as I am enjoying travel a lot more and travel from Australia to anywhere is damn expensive combined with the need to pay for wedding and new house. But even so my rough estimate is I spent at least $400 on gaming last year and that excludes hardware purchases.

2 gaming rigs, second wiiu, second ps4, some capture hardware, bunch of games for ps2/ps3/ps4/wii/wiiu/pc 4k monitor, new tv and updating my ue4 license.

So far I've spent 89 euros on games this year. If I can keep my job, I expect to buy games for at least 500-600 euros in 2014, most of them for Wii U and 3DS.
