the one child policy is really screwing with their working age population, pretty soon there's going to be too many people retired and not enough people working and keeping the economy up. it'll take a while to fix but it needs to abolished now or scrapped for a 2 child policy

More starvation and over population issues will plague the world. World population is a little over 7 billion and it is on track to reach 10 billion by the year 2050.

Possibily a million extra births per year. China is developed enough for the one-child policy to make that big of an effect. But it will be beneficial on the long run. They should really just abolish the one-child policy, really.

I just wish countries like Niger or Nigeria decided to do the same. Niger and north Nigeria specially are ticking time bombs, with the highest fertility rates in the world, semi-desertic landscapes suffering from bad land management and quickly depleting water resources.

I'm not one for the vanity of predicting the future apocaliptically, for it's often boring and has been done for centuries - but frankly, Sahelian West Africa is asking hard for it.

The removal of reproductive liberty cannot be justified in response.

Fewer human rights abuses is always a good thing.

This reminds me of an essay I wrote about solutions for over population and lack of resources. It was about Cannibalism. Yeah.. the doctor made me rewrite it.

But solely based on the title... I think its good news cause being an only child is a bit scary imo, specially in china cause of all the responsibilities you have to have. Having a brother or a sister always helps in bad times (or makes things worse depending how he/she is)
