Forums - Sony - ND please don't make a sequel to "The Last of Us".

This is partly a personal rant, but I hate when people bring up a possible TLOU 2... If this game is to retain its intrinsec value it doesn't need a sequel. It is great as it is; a sequel would just dilute the good things about it. For me, this is just the kind of game that should stand on its own. Please don't milk it.

Wouldn't mind a new game in the world of the Last of Us.. just not with Joel and Ellie... their story is done

Do not worry, I think it was the last one...
Okay that was intense for a morning, I need a coffee now.

Naughty Dog dont Milk, i guess thats up to personal opinion though, in the past with all their series, their sequels are generally better than their predecessor.

Plus, TLOU 2 doesnt have to have Joel & Ellie, it can be a completely different story in the same time period of Joel and Ellie, so therefore is a new deep story to tell. Personally, i'm excited for what story ND have to tell next.

So now a single sequel is already "milking" it?
I wouldn't mind a direct sequel since there are still many unresolved threads. It might not be as good as the first but I'm not someone who thinks that any sequel could tarnish the name or Quality of a previous game.

Yeah no Joel or Ellie, I agree.

I certainly don't mind another TLOU.. and milking it is a bit far so far isn't it :)

I mean the story isn't finished, and a new console, a couple years in then i think TLOU2 would be perfectly fine. I am also very happy with a Uncharted 4 and look forward to UC5. This isn't COD or ACreed that were talking about here, 1 game every couple of years of a franchise is perfectly fine (man... two years is a long time in a persons life)... while every year, is too much..

First though, lets get TLOU Special edition onto PS4 with upgraded graphics, new areas and new stories DLC... that would be great.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

We TLoU is by far the best game ND has ever made so I want more of that world, perhaps introduce new playable protagonists and have Joel & Ellie feature in the story somehow? I don't know.

Parallel story, finding a cure, getting more answers, other stressful stories, etc. - would just turn the everything into a cliche. I know the feeling of "wanting more" when a good game is over but I don't think this would justify a sequel.

I have to say I agree. To me, The Last of Us is a game about Joel and Ellie, and not really about the world its set in. Since the story of Joel and Ellie is done, I don't see the need to continue the series. It wouldn't make sense, sort of like writing a sequel to Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Some games, novels, or films are simply great as standalone works, and I personally think that The Last of Us is one of them.

Of course, I'm excluding the story DLC for TLOU, as that is already planned.
