Forums - Gaming Discussion - UK Software sales December 28th

As I said in the other thread, I think it's very reasonable to believe that Knack is undertracked throughout EU. It is "Sonyland" after all.

Also have to laugh at people calling it mediocre or shitty, without even playing it, just because it's outselling SM3DW in the UK. I've actually played it, and it is definitely above mediocre. Kinda reminds me of a Crash game, simple, straightforward and fun. Only more emphasis on combat.

Is it possible that bundled games are included in these numbers as opposed to other trackers in Germany, France and other countries which don't? I have no idea, just asking.

I don't remember if NPD counts bundles as well, but for example there's sometimes a significant difference between Famitsu and Media Create numbers because of one of them including cards you buy at stores of digital versions of certain games.

Yes, Chart-Track includes bundled games.

Why is Aliens Colonial Marines selling so well?

For some reason Nintendo games do really badly in UK. Specially 3D World and A Link Between Worlds.

Well, UK might need and like new experiences unlike playing same old franschises though they are great for fun but they mostly experience the game than just playing for fun.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Is Nintendo really hated that much in the UK?

The WiiU has a had a lot of trouble in Europe, they don't really seem to care for Nintendo over there.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

But even 3ds software is doing badly in the UK. And it doesn't look like it's a problem in Europe as a whole. Take Germany for example, Nintendo are doing very good over there. However, UK...

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Btw, where is the usual text analysis we get with the charts, including percentage drops and increases and the like??

* The final week of the year sees EA’s 'FIFA 14' (-31%) remaining at No1, taking a 5th week since launch as the top-selling software title, one more week than ‘FIFA 13’ last year – the difference being that ‘FIFA 14’ claimed the Christmas No1 this year (last week) whereas last year it was taken by ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ in week 51, 2012. Activision’s 'Call of Duty: Ghosts' remains at No2 (-24%) but is less than 2000 units behind ‘FIFA 14’ and has also taken 5 weeks at No1 since launch. Ubisoft’s 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' (-15%) remains at No3 having taken the top spot once back at launch (wk44) but has never been out of the Top 5. EA’s ‘Battlefield 4’ remains at No4 for a 3rd consecutive week (-11%) having debuted at No2 in the same week as ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’. Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ has been climbing for the past 3 weeks and moves back in to the Top 5 at No5 (-5%).

Sales are dominated by realism and sports simulation, something you don't really associate with Nintendo

Even then, Knack is doing much better than A Link Between Worlds and Zelda is a fairly popular franchise in the UK.

I played Knack on UK launch day, but not ALBW. I can't play Zelda without a guide, and I just couldn't be bothered having to play a game that way. I'm obviously not a REAL Zelda fan then.
