The Sensor Bar doesn't have single sensor in it. It actually doesn't have anything to with sensors.
What the Sensor Bar is then? It has infrared lights in both ends, what the Wii Remotes camera photographs, and by their [the 2 lights] position and distance (from each other), Wii Remote gets the positioning data of the pointer and distance from TV.
Now, infrared light is visible in frequencies that the human eye can't see, but cameras CCD:s CMOS:s usually reacts to it, basically showing it as a bright light.
