Forums - Gaming - Can you play Bioshock Infinite without playing Bioshock 1&2?

Yes you could, but why would you want to? If you've never played Bioshock 1, you're really missing out.

Probably cause infinite is free on PSPlus right now.

Around the Network

Sure. But more importantly, you can play Bioshock 1 without playing Bioshock Infinite.

You should do that instead.

I played it without playing 1, I didn't feel like I missed anything

I had read the synopsis on wikipedia before though

Yes. Almost zero continuity. In fact, infinite is before BS1 in timeline so it's even better to play inifinite before BS1.

BS2 is the best bioshock yet though.

You've got it all backwards. It makes no sense to play Infinite first (if you're going to play 1 in the first place).

And I am baffled by your choice of a favourite

It makes perfect sense, especially if you play infinite's DLC before BS1 because it's before shit hit the fan in Rapture. You get to see a lively functional Rapture degrade into chaos. There is loose prequelesque imagery in infinite for BS1.

BS2 improved  on BS1. Dualweilding was singlehandled one of the best improvements.

You could, but you'd be missing out on better/cheaper games. Also check out System Shock 2.
