Well... the part people criticize the most is the part they would need to play to really judge properly. Since they can't/won't they act like they would know better than those who played... why criticize the gameplay if you never played the game?

I can bet with you that 80% of the guys that played Ryse thinks the gameplay is boring, limited, weak and repetitive.

Of couse... there 20% of the guys that will love it.

I said one time and I will say again "I liked a lot Cross Edge but that didn't change that the game is bad".

I would love to know where you pulled that 80 percent from?

Firstly you need to read the reviews and separatw them into two categories: the ones that complain about combat/gameplay and the other that don't.... after that you need to divide the number of the reviews that complain about gameplay/combat per thw total reviews... you will get your first %.

When you finish that I will explain the second step .

80%... lol...

Yeap... I think it is a little bigger too... 90%?

Maybe you want me to call you names so you can report me but really I don't fall in these. I ask you to back up your claims that's all if you don't/can't it just means you're trolling (how surprising) and you should be reported... maybe I should start doing so.

You really didn't know me I never use the report feature because I don't agree with it... you call me a fanboy is a compliment and not a bad thing... I like because I'm a fanboy.

About backup my claims... just show me one review that didn't complain about thw combat/gameplay.

No I don't know you and frankly the way you behave I don't think I miss a lot. I don't need to point you to reviews as there is already a lot of people here that have the game and are through with it stating how good their experience is. Of course you have your opinion and you can chose to belive some over others but it's not surprising to see that most of the time you favor the negative ones... you come here in a thread that praises a MS game in the MS section to say the game has "shameful" animations and compare it to other games that are either worse or do the same... why do you spend so much time downplaying this section?!? Really... because Selnor is downplaying Sony's section? Still wonder why some users can't be banned from some sections...

Show me these guys that played the game and says the combat/gameplay is good.... can be only in this thread alone... one? two? can be biased opinions...

Like I said you can enjoy bad games but that don't make it a great game lol for your record Knack and Killzone SP are terrible too... and I praised Resogun and Dead Rising 3 because they are really fun with great gameplay... yeap I'm the fanboy here.

Every combat game? Give me a title for reference, post a video, a gif anything... back it up, what game doesn't have some collision bugs during combats? And how does a collision bug mean the animation is bad? Especialy when it was motion captures? Show me a clip where the animation is shameful (hey it's your own word), give me a title we'll analyse that title you're talking about.

I have doubts they used motion capture for the combat moves... just look at the videos posted... it was so off.

Did you want a good example of combat animations? GoW III, DMC, Ninja Gaiden 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, etc.. all these have better animations in combat than Ryse.

I think you're right they didn't used motion capture for the combat animations I just looked at their combat vidoc and never they said the combat animations were motion captured. That being said... I watched again a lot of gameplay videos and sometimes the character kind of slide to an enemy like there is a "lock to enemy" type of thing and yes there are some collision bugs here and there but for the most part it's well animated way more than the games you mentioned.

DMC, GoW and Ninja Gaiden to some extent try to put so many moves in a short time that you don't have time to see what's going on. GoW and DMC cut into frames so the character does their movements faster. Both games also put the character in weird positions and both have the same "lock to enemy" type thing. GoW also has the camera set real far and static making it more difficult to see I'm not even sure you took the time to see your references. For all the love I have for Bayonetta I'm sorry but the animation execution is everything but realistic  but hey the game and character wasn't meant to be realistic at all. Those games weren't meant to be realistic, they did great but to say Ryse is "shameful" compared to those, maybe you don't know what shameful means but compared to those games it's far from it. Even the QTE from GoW are not all that well animated.

Ryse isn't in the same class of of action game as the other games you mentioned. Those are the hack n slash genre. They had a set style of doing things. Ryse is more akin to Assassins Creed and Batman Arkham City.

You tell me you didn't read which person liked the game in this thread... yeah they can very well be biased... you mean in a thread titled "Ryse wow moments" it's incredible how most comments come from people that haven't played the game and those people keep bashing it for lol... yeah!

I don't care about Knack or Killzone or whatever game you wanna bring, I don't play those games as I don't have a PS4. You won't see me in threads about those games just to downplay them... gosh I don't own a Sony console except for a PS2 why would I go in Sony threads to piss people off with uninformed comments? You told me I didn't know you... why don't you tell a little more about yourself and enlighten me on why you come in this section?

No different than people defending the game when they haven't even played it. ¬_¬

That's true... but do we want to anticipate games or do we want to downplay games... is it wrong to let people praise a game they like or anticipate even if you don't like it?

Both are wrong in my book, if you put it this way. Praising or downplaying a game you know not much about is nothing more than talking out of your ass.

That being said, with all the videos around, you can still form a relatively good idea of what the game is and how it plays like. Ryse looks good. And Selnor is praising it purely because it's a XBO exclusive. And when he praises one such game, it's always done by downplaying the competition's games.

But I digress. People are both free to have negative or positive opinions about a game. But their opinion has way more credibility if they have experienced the game first hand.

That being said, you don't need to have played the game to comment on the topic's subject. Watching videos of the game is more than enough to see the quality of its graphics and animations.

My take? Facial animations are exceptional. Combat animations are very stiff, and they don't flow too well between the different motions.

While what you say is true why do you think they release trailers and teasers if it's not to generate anticipation for fans of the project? Is it bad to be impressed by something and want to talk about the possibilities... we are not robots are we? The problem with the downplaying is that all it does is chow the bad side of everyone and spread hate on oneself. Selnor's way of doing is to be called yes I'm with you on this (read this Selnor - if you praise something do it without downplaying other things it's not so hard).

As for the animations yes the transitions between combos are not the best but when you look at it overall the animations are great not "shameful" like some think they are...
