Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Year 1 and Year 2 Sales Comparison

I wanted to compare Wii U's first year sales to the second year week by week, so...

Y1 Week 1: 472,099

Y2 Week 1: 107,157 (364,942 behind)

Y1 Week 2: 338,221

Y2 Week 2: 232,104 (471,059 behind)

Y1 Week 3: 559,152

Y2 Week 3: 174,092 (856,119 behind)

Wii U first year is ahead, obviously. I expect Wii U's second year to catch up to the first year though, since Wii U dropped so much last year. I do except it to drop a lot, but not to the point of 20k a week. Do you think it will catch up to year 1?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I'll update this every time a new update comes.

Why does that matter? It's not like Y1 will have launch sales forever.

If the Wii U was doing good, its second holiday should beat launch sales.

360 had a better second holiday, Wii had a better second holiday, PS3 had a better second US holiday, DS had a better second US holiday, and PSP had an identical second US holiday,

Wii U sales 2012: 2,247,216

Wii U sales this year (2013): 2,241,455

At least Wii U will outsell its sales in 2012. Unfortunately not by much.

Look on the bright side. At least It's not down YOY like every other console this year!

In its first 12 months Wii U sold 4m, I think it should be able to beat that handily. I dont see Wii U selling amazing numbers but then again I dont see it having such a steep decline in the early part of next year either.

For the first 3/4 of 2013 the only big releases were Lego City, Luigi U and Pikmin. The first 3 quarters of 2014 has Wii Fit, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart confirmed and Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta, Yoshi, X, Smash Bros are possible to release im that time frame. Also next year could see a true price cut to $250, this year was more like better value bundles, and with a steady release schedule comes steady advertising.

I could see Wii U hitting or coming close to 10m by its 2nd bday which would put it at 6m for year 2.
