Sony will die when PC gaming becomes affordable. They're holding on to the thread that is Playstation.

Isn't PC gaming already affordable?

Sony isn't just a hardware company they are an entertainment company vested in some of the biggest musicians and movies in their respective industries. So PC gaming will kill off Adele according to you?

Who is Adele?

One of the UK's highest earning and subjectively most talented musicians.

UK? That's probably why I haven't heard of him/her/group.

Oh!!!!!!! she made that song? that song was actually really good.

Impossible to tell. MS are huge, and can come out with the next big thing, Sony could come out with the next big thing, and as long as Nintendo have money in the bank they're fine.

So Nintendo then lol.

If you talking about the whole company I think they will die in the order of Sony first, then Nintendo and then finally Microsoft. But it won't be for long while yet, especially in Microsoft case.

But If you are talking solely about the dedicated gaming console division of each company. Mostly like Nintendo will easily out last both Sony/Microsoft. Simply because the Third Party publishers will eventually abandoned home console for their own cloud gaming service eventual. As neither Sony/Microsoft console would be able to survive without Third Party support. The only way I see Nintendo leaving dedicated consoles before Sony/Microsoft is if they are brought out by someone like Apple/Google to produce games for their Smartphone & tablets.

All the time, if doom threads are anything to go by.

In all honesty, theres no way to know. Making a prediction is as much mumbo jumbo as astrology.

I'm talking about the entire company.

This question is impossible to answer without just pure guessing.

Sony & Microsoft are huge companies with fingers in many pies, for them to actually dissapear would take multiple huge market shifts and failures on their parts to invest in up and coming techs (and artists/studios too in Sony's case) And it would take years if not decades for them to die this way... which wouldn't happen because the people running the company & investors would make the neccessary changes before the fact.

Nintendo is different in that it is only really focussed in one area, thus making it much more vulnerable (PC and Sony/MS are major threats to the home console business and smartphones to the handheld market) but they are also a very careful company with huge cash reserves. I would say it's possible for Nintendo to be killed off in maybe 20-30 years if they don't do things right, but again it would take a few years and their cash reserves can hold them up if need be while they restructure.

The brand lives on no matter what happens.

do you mean... "When will they stop making video game hardware?"

as far as companies go, I doubt song or microsoft will ever die because they are involved in so much more than just video games, nintendo will last as long as there are fans of their handheld systems.........but even if they are forced out of consoles they can still make a killing transitioning to a 3rd party software provider, a lot better than sega did. so I don't see them dying in the near future.
