Forums - General - Dealing to fake "Microsoft Service Centre" phone calls

I just had one of those calls from someone claiming to be a Microsoft service centre person. Fake obviously. I tried to keep them on the line as long as possible to waste their time. I'm afraid I didn't do very well, I think I only wasted about 10 minutes of their time before they decided I was on to them and they hung up. But I'm glad I got them to hang up on me, it felt like a small victory.

How do you handle those con artists who call you claiming to be from Microsoft and try to tell you they will fix your computer for you?

lol if you try to get help to fix an issue with your PC it can take hours of trolling through forums to get an answer to someone else who had your issue before you... I dont see how they think people will believe that anyone from Microsoft would be wasting their time ringing you personally out of the blue to offer you assistance in deleting your system32 folder...

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I play a random porno through the speakers just to creep them out and whisper... I am Cuming for you before they hang up

But on the days when I don't feel like dealing with them... I put them on the block list

I got one of those but the guy calling seemed to give up almost immediately. He sounded beaten down before I even answered. I asked a few questions and he simply hung up. Perhaps he still had a tiny piece of soul left.

The best I've gotten is with one of those automated calls that ask you to press a number to speak with a representative about a free vacation. I'd been getting the same one for days so I pressed the number, placed the phone on my night stand, and rolled back over in bed. A few seconds later I heard someone cussing in a very angry voice. I remember the words "son of a bitch". It was hilarious. I should have just started laughing into the receiver but I wanted them to keep going.

I got one of these calls the guy said to go to my pc and put in all these commands I told him to buzz off

One problem I do have on my PC is an undeletable malware adware add-on on Firefox called Okitspace. I've had a look around for ways to get rid of it, but every time I've come across "click on this link" instructions and I just don't trust where that link is going to take me, so I always get dead ends.

I read online of one person who actually used an old POS computer they didn't need and filled a folder named something like "finances" with viruses and trojans and let them remote in and access the fake tainted files.

Sounds like an urban legend, but awesome if true.
