I'm bumping this since the other thread was locked and people still seem to have things to say.

Hello. I think your estimate is on the low end for XB1, but if it does end up selling under 280k I won't be totally surprised.
I don't know about January, but I'm not too optimistic about the future of the XBox one.
Last year MS sold 11.1m Xbox 360's, but it seems that this year they will only manage to sell about 6.5m and that's a drop of more than 40% in units sold. Even when you add XBox One sales, the number of units sold will still be below last's year numbers.
On top of that they must have had huge expenses in launching their new console, so I guess that it won't look nice at all in their financial statements. Therefore, I believe there's some probability (10-20%?) that the new CEO will just decide to get rid of XBox.

Lawl xbone confirmed to be only interesting in one continent
"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)
"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)
Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.
""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

There's no source for the article. In fact, there's no source for any article on that website, I clicked on several articles. Some of the stuff written in there is hilarious, but obviously b.s.
as of now looking like a bold prediction since it was made mid Dec, and you could be right but if i were to put money on it i would favor the xb1 WW for January we'll know more when we see NPD dec

It will sell minimum 50k per week in N.America in Jan so that leaves only an average of 20k per week in Europe. I think it will beat the WiiU total by 50k or so.

Are you expecting it to have a similar January to the Wii in 2007? That system averaged 83k per week in America. 50k per week seems like a realistic prediction, not an absolute minimum. In Europe it's tracking the same as the Wii U which did 14k a week, so 20k for XBONE could happen.
Nintendo will need all the sales they can get from Japan to beat the Xbone. In February the PS4 launches in Japan and the PS4 will be well over 5 million by march.
