Namco Bandai has announced that its popular Tales of series has shipped over 16 million units worldwide since its 1995 debut with Tales of Phantasia.

The most recent game in the series, Tales of Xillia, has shipped over 1 million units. The publisher recently announced Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, which comes out in February 2014, followed by Tales of Xillia 2.

that's a nice landmark for the series, i hope it keeps growing in quantity and quality.

How many games to make this 16millions shipped?

GTA V outsold the entire Tales of Series....

Are you trying to say something?

JRPG's are not as popular as shooters or games like GTA. Doesn't mean there is no place for them though!

This is still an achievement.

how is that relevant? if you dont like tales you dont play it, just like i dont care for GTA and dont go posting about tales on GTA threads.

if all games needed to sell the same amount as GTA to be successful this industry would be dead.

Xillia shipped over 1 million, so that's at least 300k for NA/EU?

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

One of my favorite series :). Great news

would have sold more with Graces coming to Wii in the west etc.....

And as long as Tales Studio continue to localize their game, I will continue to support them.

Once of the smartest things that Namco and Baba have done. This is a franchise that is definitely on the rise, taking advantage of the weakening brand of Final Fantasy in the west. By not promising over-the-top graphics, etc, they can focus on creating an awesome set of games.

Symphonia and Xillia 2 will do quite well in the west.
