What's the point?

It's like those people that eat a deciduous cake with awesome frosting and don't even try the frosting and refuse to eat it.

I use the Kinect all the time. It's taken a little to get used to it, as it's different words and orders sometimes than the 360. You have to learn how to use it, just like a mouse, commands or anything else.

I don't say Kinect is just awesome and revolutionary because of gaming - I say it's all that and more because I have been in computer tech longer than most here have been alive. I've seen a number of things come and go. And just like adding a hard drive to a console, I think it's here to stay.

as "one of those guys" i have to say,..  frosting is disgusting and definetly makes my cake eating experience worse.  i'd rather not eat any cake than to have to eat the frosting with my cake.

Anyone who does this is a complete douche. Even if you don't ever play a single game with it, it makes navigation WAY faster. It makes playing in large parties easier by switching profiles without you doing anything except hand over the controller.

Only a complete moron would say otherwise. And don't give me the but its my opinion BS.

Its a fact that its faster and easier with Kinect. There is no single reason other than being a douche as to why you wouldn't have it Kinected for non game functions.

Fact is, kinect voice comands tech is ancient, especially when compared to google now. If I had an xbone I'd turn it off because I don't want to be frustrated after being spoiled by Google now on my smartphone.

I can't speak for the Xbox One with Kinect, because I don't have it.

But I do know that ever since 2010 when I bought Kinect for my Xbox 360 it has always been hooked up and I love it. Navigating the UI on the 360 with it is great. I can't wait to get an Xbox One and use it there since it's much improved.

And for the record, I don't consider it a "douche" mood for Microsoft to include the Kinect with every Xbox One. These companies have a right to sell how they want. You answer when you do or do not purchase the item.

let me share my experience with it.

I get above 90% accuracy when my room is quiet on voice commands. But whe I'm running a game or anything causing volume to come out of my tv the accuracy plummets to an unusable level making the voice command play calling and substitution features in nba 2k14 a waste of space. I could be saying nothing at all and the screen constantly . prompts me that the voice command was unrecognizable.

As for it's recognition. I only have two profiles at them moment, mine and my brother. We do look fairly alike and the xbox will sign the wrong person in from time to time but most of the time it can tell us apart. A nice feture with that system is when we sit side by side with one controller on and I hand the controller to him, it automatically makes his profile the lead profile. comes in handy when we take turns playing online matches in cod ghost. On the flip side sometimes when I'm alone I might be enjoying online match of killer instinct when kinect suddenly decides I am no longer myself but my brother and signs me out rudely ending the match.

Like said before it saves seconds and waste seconds depending on whats happening. I don't bother using voice commands in game anymore, only for cod that I play with headphones so kinect still hears me.

I havent gotten to the point of disabling it yet, no.

Thats like the most bad ass thing right there, quickly followed by a disaster.  Sounds like kinect is a mixed bag.

Me, I never connected mine from the day I started using the Xbox One.  I really wish they would let you use the headset for voice commands, and use the kinect for getures only.  Would really eliminate some of the noise problems when playing.

I expect those who bought the Xbone to keep it on anyway. Why would you pay more if you don't want to use it?

Your post reeks of douche, so watch it buddy.  I don't have mine conneted, and have been enjoying my Xbox One just fine.   I only use my Xbox for games and, well, games.  Nothing else.

Because we liked the launch line up better and/or had friends migrating from Xbox 360.  Those are two reasons for me, can't speak for others but my guess is a few share my thoughts.

Or that of course.

I use it. As soon as I get in the house, I say "Xbox on." So once I get to the living room, my TV, sound system and Xbox is on, ready to eavesdrop on what everyone else is doing. What I didn't know, was my buddy that lives with me, just bought an Xbox One also and I also end up turning his Xbox on. His room is close to the front door.

Commands work about 80% of the time for me. I slur when I talk and don't really enunciated. I talk fast and want to get it out of my mouth as fast as I can, because it tiresome to talk.

I've masturbated in front of the Kinect and also had sex in front of it. I'm not bothered by it.

People that freak out about it are probably involved in illegal activities and are scared to get caught.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

This past weekend I took my XBO to a friends house and left the Kinect at home. I can tell you I really missed having it. It's like the difference between having a unicycle and a bicycle. The unicycle works fine, but that extra wheel makes everything so much smoother. It took me a week to get use to it, but now when I don't have it I miss it.

Here are a couple of my favorite experiences:
1. When I walk in my front door and say "Xbox On" It turns on my TV, audio receiver and the Xbox, before I have even crossed the room.
2. I can tell it to start a game while I am grabbing a drink before I have even sat down to game.

Here is a hiccup that needs to be worked on:
It needs to learn how people pronounce things instead of making them conform. For example, my girlfriend calls the thing a "Eggs Box" instead of an "Ex Box" and it won't understand. So I have to keep telling her it's an "Ex Box"
I know this is a dumb complaint, but I think if the machine could learn how it's users talk than the experience would become even more awesome.

Here are some of the things that bug me:
1. About 10% of the time I will have to repeat a command. I'm ok with that, but it needs to evolve so that it is less than 1% of the time.
2. The 3rd party apps need to have full voice integration, especially netflix. It works, but I wish I could voice search for movies/tv shows within Netflix instead of going to Bing to do it. Also they need to make it so I can select something to watch by it's title in Netflix. Really the Netflix app needs a big overhaul on the XBO version. I'm not sure why they didn't go with the layout that is on the 360 or PS3.
3. When I sit down in front of the XBO it will log me in, but if I walk out of the room and walk back in it will log me in as my girlfriend. So both accounts are logged in with only me in the room. I don't get it........
