Unfortunately people who buy Nintendo consoles nowadays only get 1st party titles. You can also see that happening on the 3DS, but thanks to the much bigger userbase, things aren't as bad there as they are on Wii U. I sincerely don't see what Nintendo could do to change this situation, 3rd party exclusives still sell well on Nintendo consoles, but for multiplatform games, I think it's a lost cause.

There's nothing Nintendo can do now. The Wii U's (and Nintendo's in general) rep and image is set in stone, and unless Nintendo somehow secures the next GTA, Madden, CoD and BF on six month exclusitivity deals, it's over. I hope Nintendo is working on securing more studios, second parties and Platinum-esque deals for the future, because any multiplat catered to the hardcore crowd that comes after Watch_Dogs and Child of Light will have to be considered a gesture of goodwill from the publisher.

For me personally, I'm perfectly fine with first party games, indies and virtual console stuff (they really need to fix that last part though) for the next few years, with a few third party surprises here and there. I would never buy Cawd no matter what system I own.

People are happy that COD didn't sell on WiiU.
But that's a bad sign to 3rd parties. If COD doesn't sell much what will sell?
Just Nintendo games? If it is like that it is worth it to make a port of any game on their console?
COD is called "rehashed" but there are not better shooters on that particular console.

I'm pretty sure Metroid Prime is on the way. You talk about FPS's like its something everyone needs, though. This audience clearly doesnt feel a great need for them.

This is not something particular to the Wii U but to all Nintendo consoles. People buy them for Nintendo games. There are very few third party games that manage to appeal to this audience. Ports are not something that Nintendo console owners seem to care about, unles its something that has a high degree of quality that can compete with the first party offering.

In short, the only way to see sucess on Nintendo consoles is to make a really good game.

Where did I state that?

How many threads were created by Nintendo console fans saying that 3rd parties hate Nintendo?

Also, asking why don't they port to WiiU? I'm sure that's not a sign of indifference.

a lot of arguments going belly up now. THere is no self sabatoge here, yes they didnt annouce it till later, but it wasnt like they did annoucne it the day before the game came out, there was ample time to get some buzz for the WIi U version. Not to mention it was actually CHEAPER than any other version (at least in the US) DLC? Thats a cop out as the PS and PC versions dont get DLC till much later but doesnt stop them from selling gangbusters anyway. If i said it once ill say it again.

Demograph thats the problem, these are not the type of games that would do that great on Ninty consoles, its just the way it is. You cant blame its gimped, it runs just as well if not better than the PS360 versions, with pointer controls that people swear are so important. You cant blame user base Wii had a much higher one than either PS or 360, AND the PS4 and Xone versions did way better despite just coming out.

Yes there is a self-sabotage problem. Anyone who states otherwise is deliberately ignoring the facts to enact their own agenda, full stop

Edit: to clarify, it's obvious that there are going to be demographic differences, but not to this degree and it is highly disingenuous to disregard how half-assed the Nintendo versions of multiplats are. Citing the PS and PC versions as some sort of counterpoint is just muddying the waters because we all know they're going to get the support eventually. With Nintendo versions, it's either a flat no or being strung along indefinitely.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The part where you say "theres no better shooter son the Wii U". Something makes you think people would rather get a bad FPS than a good game in another genere.

where is the sabatoge in COD? because they announced it later? games get announced for different platforms for different times constantly. Do you not think the demograph is a bigger issue?

well the WiiU has a horrible controller in my opinion, the first time I grab that thing my hands feel so separated that I wanted to bend that damn thing. I imagine how horrible would be to play a FPS it gives me goosebumps.

And also Nintendo buyers only buy Mario I think, so seeing this sales is more than normal.
