From a sales perspective, Harry Potter has the potential to outsell (pretty much) any game created in the past decade. When you combine book sales and the number of people who have seen the movie there is a potential 50 Million sales to Harry Potter fans ...

Personally, I wouldn't expect that level of success but it is plausable that Harry Potter will sell 5 Million copies across all formats this year.

The 1m w/w was for the Wii version, as we were talking about. All formats eh? 2.5m max w/w. Like others have said, the HP series both movie wise and gamewise has been on a downward spiral. I haven't seen major HP support for the games, despite the huge fanbase of HP fans of the books. Go over to Boxofficemojo.com and look up HP grosses. Each sequal has sold less than the next, regardless if the movie/book(s) were better. Just because there's a huge fanbase/reader base doesn't mean that the games will do well. Because last time I checked, "the Bible game" didn't do too hot on PS2 and Xbox, despite the reader base being somewhere in billions.

It's a movie tie-in game, come on. All the previews will look great and then the game will come out and look like crap 'cause it was rushed for the movie release on a gazillion platforms. Just look at Spiderman 3.

The 5 Million number was based on it being released to the PC, PS2, GBA, Nintendo DS, PS3, XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii; 7 platforms where it will possibly break 1 Million units sold (worldwide) on 2 of them (PS2 and Nintendo DS) while it will sell between 300,000 and 750,000 on the rest.

While the HP game looks interesting, a comparison to FF7 is ludicrous. It's even more absurd than people claiming Lair will drag the PS3 out of its current mired situation. And that's saying a lot.

OMG it is official wii owners are really out there first if its a game based on a movie based on a book. OOP was one of the least favorite in the series and What are u on. I love HP and i wont accept this game as a present. FF7 is just untouchable. Oh and whether or not LAIR will bring the ps3 back is anyones guess saying it will be a spectacular game is not.
