It's an pretty good dungeon crawler! You need to like those though to enjyo Etrian Odyssey. The story is minimal and you will spend most of your time exploring dungeons and fighting enemies. It's quite hard but once you get the hang of it gets manageable. It's very old-school, but the recent changes they made make it a more accessible experience.

I will post only the developers, I like most of the games they released so that's a good enough reason.

Konami
Nintendo EAD
Atlus
Capcom
Namco Bandai

Ive never really played a dungeon crawler to be honest.  How is the story?

The story as I said, is minmal so don't expect to have a story to pull you through the game! There is no story at all, it's just a group of adventurers trying to get to the bottom of the maze. It emphatizes on the atmosphere and makes you feel like you are on a real adventure.

A dungeon crawler would be the old SMT games or the Wizardry series. Persona 4 is KINDA like a dungeon crawler, but it's a little bit easier and with random generated dungeons, but it's not really a dungeon crawler.

Etrian Odyssey doesn't have random generated dungeons though. They are already set and you have to draw them on your 3DS screen! You could give it a try but don't expect a good story!
