Odd. Nintendo wasn't the first one to bring out a new upgraded console. Guess they were the first with such a massive consumer connection though.

Yeah Sega cut the master systems life short and released the Genesis 2 years before the SNES, but the master system had a tiny install base in NA so probably no one cared.
