Yeah you cant underestimate the selling power of a shiney new system alone, but its your early adopters that recomend it to there friends, so you dont want to release at a time where your early adopters will have buyers remorse because theres no games they want to play on it.

Picked up my PS4 last night at a midnight launch event in Cape Town, South Africa

There was exactly 26 people who picked up their pre-orders at that specific shop last night. I was the 26th!

I found it quite amusing when the first guy walked out the shop with hes PS4...people started clapping and shit...nerd style.

I for one and am really happy that Sony decided to luanch worldwide this year and not just focus on US/UK.

Yup , Launched today in Kuwait.
All of the stock in the official Sony store was already gone when I got there ( within the first 3 hours of the official launch ) they only had pre-ordered units waiting to be collected.
X-Cite (the biggest electronic store in Kuwait) had 7 units left, 2 units were sold in front of my eyes. The PS4 is on fire, I don't think any console has ever created such a big buzz here. I was lucky to get mine, I honestly couldn't resist.
