Am I the only one completely unimpressed by this revelation? Since when has a console NOT sold out on launch day... You do recall the people lining up outside of stores for days, weeks, and in some bizarre circumstances MONTHS just to get their hands on a new console. Not simply because they want to be the first in line but because.... Revelation for you.... CONSOLES ALWAYS SELL OUT AT LAUNCH... That's why all of you pre-ordered... Because you knew they would sell out everywhere.
Even the Wii U sold out at launch.... Same with the PS3... I still remember my friend went and bought a Wii on launch day and said that Future Shop had a banner saying "100 Wii's for launch day" and when the time came, there were certainly 100 people, but only 40 Wii's ever made it to the store...
All that's happening here is that Sony and Microsoft held back their release dates for an extra week and shipped a few thousand more than the previous record...
