Point is ?

you tell me:

So wait a minute ?! Crossing the 20 million mark means saved ?! If that's what it it means to be saved then that's pretty pathetic given the size of last generation. Just because the Gamecube wasn't discontinued like dreamcast means nothing when it was selling just as bad as the dreamcast. I guess the vita isn't a dead system then with that logic. I guess it needs a new term on the lines of largely irrelevant will do.

Gamecube was saved. It made profit.

Wait a minute ?

Making profit = saved ???

I'm sorry but there's more to the criteria of being saved than just profit. The gamecube was just as much of a failure like the original xbox.

I can tell you the point,

Nintendo make a profit no matter the size of their user-base. When its small they are profitable, when its big they fully capitalise and set the company up finacialy for the next 50 years. The Fans, they get the games that they bought Nintendo system for. Ulitmatley no one loses.

Sony make suprising little money when they do well, eg ps2. When they do poorly or even average they absolutely bleed money, more than they can ever make back, ps3 for example will always be a billion dollar net loss. The fans they miss out, when a sony system bombs it gets no games, not even from Sony themself, eg the vita.

Drawing in a crowd is harder than making a tiny chum change. I'll say it once again and never again, the gamecube is a flop compared to the PS3.

Meanwhile in reality, Any Profit > Billion Dollar Net Loss

Nintendo or not nothing wrong with letting people actually get a chance to play the game make it a timed exclusive then port the games. This is not a Nintendo IP it is not Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby so little risk for the company making it multiplat down the road.

I dont understand why people are so up in arms about this. It looks like a poor mans dmc before dante went emo. i tried the demo of the first one and it is meh.

I bet most people begging for a port would not have brought the game anyway.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Well, he represents his company. As such he should speak in a professional manner when addressing people. If not out of respect for the supporters who went out and bought their games and supported Platinum Games. It doesn't exactly put PG in good light to say, "hey guys we don't care about those who bought our old stuff. If don't like it it piss off. Kthxbye."

Also David Jaffe can say all the shit he wants. He left Santa Monica and Sony long ago and has his own little company - Eat Sleep Play.

BS. You wouldnt sit there every day and let idiots ask you the same thing over and over again and not say something? Of course not. What you are doing is childish. You are using this as a reason to justify your hate. Also making excuses for geoffrey in the process shows it is just an excuse.

Some how Geoffrey who only makes games for PS is free to say what he wants but another company not tied to Nintendo should watch what they say. I mean come on dude. Thats elementary schoolyard BS.

Me, hating? Riight. Believe whatever you want to believe.

Not even sure where the hell this little outburst came from to be honest. But ho hum.. Enjoy the game ListerofSmeg.

It may only sound that way because Nintendo's the only one giving them work. Sega already cancelled Bayonetta 2 on PS3/360, and which other publishers are there who want to publish PG games besides Nintendo at the moment? They're not going to just deny getting work.

Are you saying they don't have any other project than Bayo 2? They would be in serious danger of closing down if so.

the fans should be begging for a pimped bayonetta 1 port to the wii u, thats a possible game. its not an buyed exklusiv, sega and nintendo are close, if bayonetta 2 dont totaly bomb it realy could happen.

Just to explain my point a little better...

I work for a big software company... so I deal with a lot of customers asking for things impossible to be made in the system they use (and we do support or enhancements)... that's it some request are impossible to be delivered working in the actual system/platform (the customer needs to upgrade or move to another system/platform).

But that didn't make the customer stop to request these silly features impossible to happen in this scenario.

I go and say to the customer that I don't want them to request more these things? I get mad because that? No. Using the best smile in my face I go and deal with the costumer explaining to it why it is impossible and give him other alternatives to his problems.

The costumer understand but they stop to ask the same thing? No. Because I'm here to listen to them even if I don't want to.

I think that's the same for a game developer... except the costumer are the gamers.

He seems silly and unprofessional... arrogant to be sure.

Once more with feeling:

He's NOT telling anyone to stop making requests on Facebook. He's venting on Twitter about how exhausting it is to deal with the requests and the blatant rudeness of some of them.

Just like you are writing in here about how you deal with costumers even if you don't want to.

You're being exactly as silly, unprofessional, and arrogant as him, which is to say that none of you are any of the three.

It is obvious you don't know what the word profit means

It means net gain of money. When your development is paid for, any money you get from sales is a net gain.

NSMBU is no more "half-assed" than other NSMB games that did very well with the casual audience. Plus there's Lego City Undercover, Wii Party U, etc.

Gamecube was saved; it crossed 20 million, it made a profit. It wasn't discontinued like the Dreamcast. The definition of a dead system is a system that is no longer selling at all. GCN didn't die until after the Wii came out.

And of course Wii had better games than Wii U... so far.

NSMBU is obviously half-assed because those casual gamers didn't want to bother what was essentially a rehashed no effort of a game.

And how about the forseeable future ?

NSMBU has an attach rate of 50%. The  problem is casuals aren't buying the system itself yet because it is too expensive. But it won't stay $300 forever.

Gamecube made a profit, and was not pulled from the market like the Dreamcast. It survived, and the reason for this was the saving power of  games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
