Since when does anyone care what Fortune magazine has to say about the quality of games?
There is no way for Spore not to be favorite for GOTY if you ask me. Well for sites that aren't biased against computer games.
The pure scope of the game is just amazign compared to other games.

Yes, yes you can. You can make pretty much any land based animal you want. From Aliens, to Carebears, to Klingons to a race of Wolverine from X-men. (Or at least it looks that way, the way the editor seems to work is amazing.)
