Skies of Arcadia for the SEGA Dreamcast. It has a gorgeous world, an incredible sense of wonder and optimism, and (aside from Ramirez) very little of that melodramatic, emo-esque nonsense that is so prevalent in so many other JRPGs.
Oh, and dat soundtrack.

I do agree that Earthbound is incredible. Easily in my Top 5 of all time. I remember the first time I rented it way back in the mid 90's lol wondering why the box was so huge. The manual is awesome!

It's all about the game.
Lets see. Legend of Zelda (Battery backup in a gold cartridge)....on Nes. Shining Force 2 and Beyond Oasis ... on Genesis. Final Fantasy VI (called FF3 in the U.S) and Chrono Trigger ... on Snes. Dragon Force, Shining Force3, Shining the Holyark and Panzer Dragon Saga ... on Saturn. Skies of Arcadia (Quite an Adventure Epic Rpg that was...) Grandia 2 (One of the best battle systems ever)... on Dreamcast. Man the games suck away lots of time. Well designed .... kept me coming back. Even now I'll still play these games what limits me is the entire infrastructure of the way we game now.The online achievements ..multiplayer and social... if they ever modernize and update these games for todays consoles I would purchase and play them to death again.
