Forums - Gaming - Man who paid $750 for photo of Xbox One gets free system

And to add salt to injury, he's a stupid consumer too. Purchasing something from eBay for roughly the same price what he could have gotten from cex and instantly. I just don't know what to say other than media why do you shame Britain so much? Bad enough we got Cameron prancing around on the world stage, might as well show off average stupid Joe.

I like how they keep saying it was for his 4 year old son.....................we all know its not.

Check out my Youtube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePSXcollector

The scammer deserves to get beat up. At least have his pic circulated and get banned from selling anything. 'Blub , blub give me free stuff' seems to be increasingly exponentially. The media seem to do a victim du jour.

19 years old with a 4 year old son... hmm. And then claims he's buying the console for the 4 year old. Pays 750 for a photo, get's a free xbox and his money back. There's so much stupid here it's got to be real life. You can't make this shit up.

Believe or not, I have seen worse. so this could be completely possible (not that I think he's saying the truth, but having a son at that young age is not really that weird).

And unfortunately bar CEX and eBay, I think UK is mostly sold out of Xbox ones, as well as ps4s.

It gives them free exposure though. (Well, £430 worth for CEX.)

And with this kind of putrid story/publicity stunt, you can bet this will be featured in The Sun some time this week.

Yeah but cex are huge enough as it is, better to deal with than game, the only dominant retailer on the high street, they really did not need this.
Am not sure why they did it, just doesn't make any fucking sense, other than free advertising, which will most likely have little to no effect imo.

No not really that weird. But still that's quite young. Depending on birth dates the kid could have been 14, or at least 14 when he knocked his girl friend up.

Now he will go on and sell the master-piece "Xbox One Scam" in finest printer ink for some few hundred pounds because that picture is famous by now.

Umm, people, the guy wasn't being stupid. The photo was listed in the console category, not in some photo category, in which case it's reasonable to expect that a product of such price is actually the console and not just a photo. eBay is full of erroneous product listings, and often you just have to guess what information is correct. Of course the smart thing would be to ask and not assume, but in this case, it seems to have been pretty safe to assume it was the actual console. And either way, the seller wasn't up to anything good, no matter how you try to spin it.

The only thing I'm not liking about this too much is the fact that he got not only a refund but also a free console.
