Techland confirms resolution for PlayStation 4 version of upcoming zombie game; no word on Xbox One resolution.

The PlayStation 4 version of Dead Island developer Techland's new zombie game Dying Light runs in 1080p, a representative for the studio confirmed tonight during the Spike VGX Awards.

Techland provided a live gameplay demonstration of Dying Light on the PS4 during the show. It is unclear what the native resolution is for the Xbox One version of the game.

Dying Light, published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, launches sometime in 2014. In addition to PS4 and Xbox One, the game will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, but not Wii U.

The game features a full day-night cycle. During the daytime, players must scavenge the world for supplies and weapons; when day turns to night, the hunter becomes the hunted. For more on Dying Light, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Poor Wii U. I wonder if 3rd party developers want it to fail.

And it looks really really nice, especially considering it's cross gen.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Why would they? Live and let live, right?

Nintendo is just not working with them in the way they'd like to it seems. Sony and Microsoft are catering to them as we witness time and time again. Maybe Nintendo just doesn't care?

No word on PS4 frame rate being playable either.

Seriously though remember how during ps2 and xbox lifecycle every game looked a little better on xbox including running at 480p or 720p vs 480i. Remember how no shit was given? Maybe not...

It's weird how people suddenly got HD TV's all of a sudden.

Xbox was a small time player back then, they could've had 1080P and no would've cared. Things are different now. The install bases are closer so the interest is closer to being in between.

Those devs won't put their games on the Wii U because it isn't selling for s***.  They're in the business of (1.) making games in order to (2.) make money.  If it's pretty obvious that their game can't sell on a certain system, then they'll pass.  It's pretty reasonable.  Same thing happened with GCN and N64.

Graphics look fantastic, but that gameplay looks pretty bad.

Maybe the Xbox One version is 4K and the developers don't want to drop the bomb yet?

...yeah.
