Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Users Complaining About UI Slowdown, Happening Due To Memory Dump Issue

Somini said:

The Xbox One’s main claim to fame, aside from a ton of about-turns in its key policies, is the new interface which allows you to seamlessly transition from playing games to watching movies and other functions, all within a second. This interface seems to be having problems lately though. A thread on Reddit has reported that lately, the UI tends to slow down after enough time is spent using it.

One user suggested that you should, “Just hold power button for 10 seconds. Xbox One has a memory dump issue that’s been reported.” Some have reported this as ineffective though. Another suggestion was that, “You can also change your power setting to power saving. That way, when you turn off your console, it’s a full shut down; not a hibernating mode you get with the instant on option. Then, when you turn on the console afterwards, the stuttering should be gone.”

It’s not just Reddit users – even media figures on Twitter have reported issues, including The Verge’s deputy managing editor Chris Ziegler.

my xbox one's UI is basically stop motion animation now. time to relent and do a hard power cycle. is this going to be a regular thing?

Once again I have to unplug my Xbox One because the UI was chugging at 1fps. XB1's OS is tiles of hot garbage

As of now, there seem to be tons of these threads floating about the internet. Have you seen the same issues on your Xbox One? Let us know in the comments below.

Haven't had an issues with mine so far.  However, the funny thing is, Kinect is still in the box and probably going to stay there for a while.

I wonder if some of these UI issues have to do with Kinect...

That being said the OS has been butter for me.

I have the day 1 edition Xbox one.

I have had Zero slow down of the UI, Zero service difficulties and I have had upto 10 people in party chat playing FIFA 14 Pro clubs.

No issues, no concerns, no problems.

Memory leaks are a bitch, If it's happening to them then it can potentially happen to anyone. Chances seem low though.

Well I just had a problem, it's not a UI problem but a service problem. I had an american gift card attached to my account. I knew it was close to out of money but wasn't sure how close. So I said what the hell and attempted to buy the 2o dollar version of killer instinct. It did not have the funds, I wasn't surprised, so then I thought, maybe I can afford a character? I bought saber wolf and glacious.

That was 5 days ago.

Now randomly two hours ago I got a message saying they couldn't charge my card and now my account is suspended until I pay what I owe........and apparently a fresh hundred dollar gift card won't do the trick which sucks ass because I don't have a credit card....

Looks like I will have a long day at the bank tomorrow.........

Can't understand why it let the purchase go through if the money wasn't there.

no problems whatsoever... keep up the good hunt though.

Everyday goes by you get more and more defensive. It's OK, every OS, system has a few bugs at launch.

Cut it out will you.  Most, if not all, posters in there are saying the same thing.  Apologies if that doesnt suit your agenda. This isnt a defensive post.

I didn't say it doesn't have bugs.  I said I am not seeing any problem with the UI slowdown whatsoever.

But some are stating they had issues (The guy above you for instance), the article never said EVERYONE has an issue, so why did you go right into defend/attack mode?

I had that slowdown problem. Powering down the system while in energy saver did in fact alleviate the problem. At least for me anyway.

Sounds like when Firefox is open for too long. Probably just needs a patch to cycle itself when it starts to take up more resources than usual. I noticed in the below video that the UI seems to struggle to keep up with the controller inputs, often times freezing for 1-2 seconds.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I have an XB1 and I have had this exact issue. It has happened intermittently though, as I shut my system of when not in use.

It is near the end of the end....

It´s Memory Leak, not Memory Dump.

Memory Dump (or Core Dump) is a crash situation when a whole process is interupted at once.

The real complication is that when you tried to fix a Memory Leak you could cause a Memory Dump.

MS OS taking a dump on memory? Quite normal.
