Spotify is hands down the best.  I've tried them all and it just is.

Totally agree, although Xbox Music is good, Spotify just has the edge.

 

OP: Why wouldn't they use Sony? It's only in the gaming sector where they are rivals.

Spotify is hands down the best.  I've tried them all and it just is.

It's relevant because the article is about Xbox Music is just now starting to use the Gracenote service which is a useful service to have on whatever music streaming service anyone prefers. As you state you would prefer to use a Spotify app, just pointing out that it already uses the Gracenote service. I have not tried them all but I agree Spotify is great. :)

Of course, there is no reason why any company would not use another’s services if it benefits their own business needs.  I know that they are partners in most other sectors. MS and Sony also along with Apple and Blackberry are part of the Rock star consortium, which paid  $4.5billion to obtain the Nortel patents, together that lot then went and sued Google,Samsung LG,Asus, Huawei ZTE and pentech.

Yet Sony uses Google’s Android, Apple uses Samsung etc etc. Depending on what benefits your company most at a given time, you either sue them or do a deal together.  Capitalism at it's best!
