System is updating currently and I believe after it is done it will prompt me to create a account. Now I'm not sure but I think I read PS3/Vita/4 can all share the same account? What are the benefits of that if true? I Wanted a new PSN name but if keeping my old one is beneficial I might just do that.

The trophies across all consoles will link to your single account. Giving you a better trophy score. You can communicate with your friends who are on your account regardless of the system they are using.

You wallet that is linked to your account can be used across all consoles. Also some games allow for crossplay. Like PS3/Vita games and such.

I just went along a did it anyways. Kinda cool I can still chat with PS3 people or view my PS3 stuff. Bad part is I have to carry all those PSN friends. I kinda wanted to start fresh, collect people whose taste are inline with my own. Dont have the heart to delete anybody.

you can have more PS4 freinds than whats on your PS3. your extra friends will show up on your PS4 but not PS3. thats once you get past the 100 friends mark.
