 Uh-oh, Epic superstar Cliff 'Cliffy B' Bleszinski is at it again, this time speaking about what used to be his company's biggest baby; PC gaming.

Speaking to MTV's multiplayer blog, the Gears of War man says that the current state of PC gaming is in "disarray," and explains why right now he'd rather be making games on consoles (and yes, it has something to do with money).

"I think people would rather make a game that sells 4.5 million copies than a million and Gears is at 4.5 million right now on the 360," he said.

"I think the PC is just in disarray... What's driving the PC right now is Sims-type games and WoW and a lot of stuff that's in a web-based interface. You just click on it and play it. That's the direction PC is evolving into. So for me, the PC is kind of the secondary part of what we're doing. It's important for us, but right now making AAA games on consoles is where we're at."

Can't argue with him on the sales, but I wonder what Mark Rein has to say about PC's "secondary" part in Epic's plans?

Gears of War 2 here we come!  I don't feel like upgrading my PC to play current games since it works just fine for City of Heroes so keep it up I say.  Hell I rather buy a PS3 then a new PC.

As a hardcore PC gamer I honestly can't express how horrible the times are right now for gaming. I HATE FPS games on consoles, shitty UI, horrible control, slow, etc. but if people are buying that then everyone else will be making games for consoles. Part of the problem is that PC gamers are really hard to be WOWed as console gamers. Take for example Halo, it's barely above mediocre game but since it was the only FPS with ok controls on a console it sold like mad. Meanwhile the PC already has great controls and if Halo was released to the PC first it would have been shot into obscurity. It takes something of the caliber of Bioshock for us to honestly mouth the word WOW. All the major genres have been perfected on the PC as a result, RPGs, RTSes, and FPSes. And not any company can make you Half life 2 or starcraft 2 or Bioshock, so most shitty companies just go with the crowd which has less experience in gaming, the consoles. Thus we end up with less and less companies making PC games and more and more making console games just to cash in on people ignorance.

veiam : No , PC gamers just like precission controls for FPS and RTS games . Every time I bring one of my PC-only playing friends home , they are wowed even by my PS2/P games ... I presonally hate the fact that thee are no 3D platformers for the PC , or no real TPSs ... so its all about taste , not peoples ignorance ... And the majority says : CONSOLES !

this is a big fat duh PC gaming has been dieing dince the 1st playstation dropped and has never recoverd and its dieing even more now. no one whats to pay for all that crap you need to pay for on Pcs when the ps3 and 360 do it just as good but easier

I think there are a variety of issues coinciding.

I believe the XBox has taken more PC gamers away from the PC hurting that market more than it has damaged Sony or Nintendo.

The growth of older gamers, casual gamers, and female gamers is shifting the PC gaming market but it is not as obvious as the Wii. Millions of Sims and Pogo gamers. Ewwww

Piracy is a constant problem. Most of the time I hate these comments, but no where is piracy more of an issue than hardcore PC gaming as far as effect on overall revenue.

Traditional PC genres, especiall FPS, have long been overstaurated so as veiam said it takes something truely amazing to get attention and the money isn't there for those projects.

 simple piracy solution, add a login screen or make it so you have to be logged into a network ie Steam.
