Many of their complaints are valid and numerous other places also mentioned the same things. Many see it as as tep back from 360, especially the party chat system.

Yeah, but what does that have to do with its current state? Ps4 doesn't have as many issues with it's OS and Ui, mainly tweaking.

 

It will get fixed, sure, but they are evaluating it as of right now.

PS4 has features missing.  Features that were touted, praised and talked about at the reveal and E3.  It also has other features absent that even the PS3 has.

Thats new consoles for you.

Dont buy a launch console and expect a finished product from Sony and MS, they are works in progress for almost the entire lifetime of the device.

 

This is not about features it is an article strictly about UI.....................

I don't trust edge anymore.
It's quite obvious they have a strong bias in the console wars when they put out a magazine with a ps4 cover saying "this is your next console." they've been repeatedly bashing the xbox one with every opportunity.

Heck I did some further milling about with the X1 and found out that their version of a file manager is called "My games & apps" instead of "storage" like most are called (which I'm sure has something to do with the fact that the aforementioned games & apps sections of the X1 are more comprehensive than just simply a file manager).

From that I can see every single app and game that is on my X1 and can easily select whichever one I want, delete the game/app or even the "add-ons" for each (read: DLC). The only thing it's missing is the ability to transfer stuff from one thing to another (which would be pointless anyway since you couldn't transfer stuff from one thing to another even if they gave that ability) and the ability to view/delete saves which would certainly be a nice thing to have but it simply isn't needed since your saves automatically get saved to the cloud and the harddrive so there shouldn't be a reason you need access to it anyways.

On top of all that I checked the Xbox TV and Xbox Music and they don't allow you to download the stuff you own yet (which is actually quite stupid) so you don't have to worry about TV, movies, and music taking space on your harddrive.

Basically the X1 does have a file manager that can do 99% of the stuff you want it to.


@wick: have you actually used both systems UI in depth? Because I can tell you from personal experience that the X1 UI is just fine for the most part. There's only one negative thing that I've come across with the X1 UI and that is my pins will randomly disappear and reappear. Other than that it's seamless, quick, and does everything that I need and want it to.

Editted the link. So the article is false? Ok it did seem kinda weird how allegedly you aren't able to delete your stuff.

You can delete your games from dashboard from what I have been told, but you cannot manage your data.

Understood, but just because something is said to be on it's way in an update does not mean it cannot be mentioned and complained about. This article is the man's complaints about the XBone UI in it's current state. You can't get mad because that issue has been aknowledged and they say they are working on and will release at a future date.

Do they have an article about the PS4 interface and OS? I would expect that to complain about the DLC issue where some DLC you download cannot be retrieved if you accidentally delete it. Mainly goes for preorder DLC not found on the PSNStore.

It is getting fixed, but as of right now it is in fact an issue and by all means should be mentioned in articles that show faults.

I guess I no longer mind it since I only use it in desktop mode.

I dislike the metro interface myself.

Agreed.  I've yet to use the UI of either new console, but any similarity to Windows 8 is a misstep IMO.
